My wife and I bought our house in June and got married in September. I have 3 cars and she has one. I compromised on a standard 3 car with the plan of building in a few years. It is a builder spec home so it is a simple 30x22. It only had one outlet and 3 small lights. This had to be resolved fast. I knew if I didn't work on it soon it would be like a lot of other garages. Full of junk
I had an old display cabinet. It helped with the clutter. Then I started hauling as much as I could to the basement. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449870793.413487.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449870818.118898.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449870848.454530.jpg

Then in September I had been eyeing the saber cabinets for months, lowes had a killer deal on Newage Pro series cabinets. They are 18 gauge welded. With the sale and a 10% coupon it became much cheaper than the saber cabinets. I pulled the trigger. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449870982.889455.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449870997.024793.jpg
Yay. They came. Now where am I supposed to put everything?

Ideally I would have liked to do the electrical, plumbing, insulation, etc. first while I had room to work, but at the price I got them for I would still be waiting for another sale. In the meantime all 4 cars were in the driveway. Better than any security system. People thought we were having a party 24/7.

Finally, after collecting the electrical components drawing everything up in cad I started work. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449871300.949999.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449871323.669835.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449871351.674858.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449871370.809504.jpg
Since it was a spec home the only wall with drywall and insulation was the wall shared between house and garage.
I picked up this giant stainless steel sink since we didn't have a utility sink and because I like to brew beer and was tired of using the bath tub to wash out my equipment.
Ran the drain pipe and supply lines in a couple of hours.

Next was to increase electrical in the garage. You can never have too many outlets. So I added a 20 amp circuit on the 2 car side with 5 outlets, a 20 amp circuit on the other side. A 20 amp circuit to move my air compressor in the basement on a switched outlet with the switch in the garage. I also added a light circuit and another outlet between the 2 garage doors. Since I was going to put up drywall I ran wiring in case we ever decided to add exterior lights the wires would already be in the wall. Then I added 2 240 volt circuits. A 30 amp receptacle and another one that terminates in the ceiling for a future heater with a shutoff in the garage. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449871856.959953.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449871879.129789.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449871911.750966.jpg
I also added 2 outlets off the existing garage circuit. One for my tv and another for the receiver. I used a 2 gang with low voltage pass through for the hdmi.

I enjoyed most of the work up until the point of drywall. When the house was built the did one coat of mud. Now 13 years later the tape is falling and looks like ****. With all the **** in the way I decided to focus on getting all of the drywall up then mud and paint the wall where my cabinets would go. This would allow me to more space to get to the ceiling. I hate muddingImageUploadedByTapatalk1449872271.334942.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449872285.718936.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1449872305.454828.jpg
Working for 45 minutes then waiting a day for it to dry was not fun. Plus I had no idea what I was doing. Finally my neighbor came over and helped a bunch.

So far I have 4/5 base cabinets set up and leveled. Next are the lockers and wall cabinets. Speaker wires, hdmi, and coax are run. Going with 4 Inwall tech ceiling speakers. My 48" Samsung tv is moving from the living room to the garage and I have a brand new Yamaha wifi receiver to put in the wall cabinet. There will be no wires visible. I am even mounting a single gang box inside the wall cabinet.

After getting the 4 base cabinets leveled and lined up I set the locker in place. Slow and steady work. While leveling I found the cabinets weren't square. This made it a little frustrating.
I was ready to hang the wall cabinets. Once I located the studs I realized I would have to move the locker to the right a few inches so I could hit 2 studs for the wall cabinet.
Ughhh! Now I have to move all the base cabinets to the right a few inches which means I have to re-level them all over again!

Since my help needed to leave I decided to move to the other side and get the wall cabinets upImageUploadedByTapatalk1450021689.335040.jpg
Got those mounted and got the work bench assembled.
Based on the picture when I bought the work bench and my cabinets I saw this picture. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1450021765.593799.jpg
However when I went to put my base cabinet under the work bench I found the cabinet was too tall. I looked back at Newage's website and realized the cabinet pictured is the bold series not the pro series. Didn't realize they were that different. Somehow I needed to lower the cabinet or raise the work bench 4 inchesImageUploadedByTapatalk1450021950.952174.jpg

Even with the legs adjusted all the way I was still 2 inches shy and the work bench was a little wobbly. My next idea was to modify the legs on the bottom of the cabinetImageUploadedByTapatalk1450022156.453862.jpg
Here the foot threads into the leg. If I could remove the leg and somehow mount the foot I could shave off about 2 inches.
After thinking a bit I could have used wood, but I didn't like how it would look very different from the other ones.
Each corner had 4 additional holes. These parts were all double thick sheet metal. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1450022454.591825.jpg
Here I tapped the hole and used a nut to lock the height as well as provide the majority of support. Then as additional safety I went back and added a washer

I adjusted the table feet up and the cabinet feet down. So close!
I know it won't get me much but the lock nut I added I could probably remove from the back as these feet were already bottomed out. The front have to be elevated due to the slope of the floor. This should gain me about 1/8".

Not a lot of comments so I guess I don't have enough drama...
Update: even with lowering the feet and raising the table I am still too short. I will have to come up with another solution. In the meantime I have 2x4 blocks under the table legs

As I started mounting the cabinets I ran into a few issues. At first it was a paint scuff here or there. Can't complain too much as it is in the garage. Then I noticed one of the locker doors wouldn't latch. This was due to the other door handle either missing a weld or the weld broke and the bottom of the handle wasn't secured to the doorImageUploadedByTapatalk1450242000.377348.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1450242013.659691.jpg
It flared out at the bottom and the other door can't get close enough to the frame for the magnet to engage. I checked the other locker and it was ok. Before calling and freaking out I decided to finish so if there were any other issues I could address then all at once.
Sure enough an hour later I had my last cabinet out and the drawer alignment is bad. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1450242134.476239.jpg the gap between the top and 2nd drawer is much tighter on the left side. There is also a scratch on the left side of the frame where it looks like the drawer is rubbing.
Enough drama yet? Well let's see how customer service takes care of it. Stay tuned...

That's exactly what I don't want. Btw. We just moved from Richmond heights.

Anyway. The neighborhood we are in now, you can't touch the exterior of the house without getting it approved. I am hoping they will allow me to put up a small shed or something in the back yard for my lawn equipment and gardening tools. I am obsessed with having the garage to park and work on cars only.
I even have the lawnmower in the basement now. Haha

Got the locker on the left wall mounted last night along with my tv.
My sink still has a small leak so I guess my pipe tape and tighten it more.

Sorry for not posting sooner on the issues with the Newage cabinets. I was hoping it would be resolved by now but I should know better.
2 days ago I called Newage about the alignment issue. They said to email their support department. Emailed support department. They said I had to contact Lowes (who I ordered through) and they would contact Newage.
Seems a little weird but whatever. So I called Lowes 800 number since I ordered them online. They said that they would transfer me to a "specialist".
They transferred me to the local store. I won't go into too many details because I don't know exactly what is going on, but I have called 3 times in the last 2 days. Spoke with 4-5 different people who said I would get a call back. I have yet to receive a call back...

Welcome to the Big Box retail world. I've never had a problem with NewAge, they want customers to be happy with their products.

To buy products base solely on the lowest price, you've got to expect the lowest service levels.

Update. Went to Lowes yesterday. Talked to manager I spoke with over the phone. Felt bad for the guy. Long story short: Since I purchased online they couldn't even find my order but they were still trying to help get it taken care of. Hence the reason I never got a call back. They had nothing to go off of, other than my name.
They were calling Lowes Corporate to find my order info then trying to work with Newage. I think we got it all squared away. Hopefully it will be in Newage's hands now and I feel pretty good about that.

Working for 45 minutes then waiting a day for it to dry was not fun.

I used to feel the same way, then I discovered the joys of quick set joint compound. You can only mix a little at a time, but it is great for getting everything done in an afternoon.

BTW, I love the commercial kitchen sink, I plan on one of those for myself one day.

Well. Got a little more done this weekend. Started cleaning and organizing. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1450728165.571282.jpg
90% done now. It's that last 10% that is going to take a while.
My wife is just happy she can get her car in the garage before it gets too cold.

Got mine on eBay. Great price if you want a new one. If you have time to wait check local going out business auctions. Usually there is a warehouse they sell all the stuff out of. You can get great deals.

Looks much better! You can do what I did, although I don't reccomend it. That 10% you have left can just get piled on the workbench. :dunno:
