I've never done much with welding, even though I do own a welder and know (in general) how to use it. I was looking around at different stands/carts that would hold a welder and related tools but still be mobile so I could pull it close to whatever I'm working on. After a while I had an idea...

I have this old tool box that was given to me by a friend, and I thought it would be neat to put it on a frame that is leftover from the wire display rack that I recently hacked up to hang tools from.

Here's what I started with:

2 Cans of Rustoleum "Sunrise Red" later:

And bolted to the frame base:

The welder sits nicely in the bottom, and the 3 drawers are plenty big enough to hold what welding tools I have.

May not work for everyone, but it was a cheap solution for me, so I thought I'd share.

Good idea, being slightly shielded should help keep the welder a bit cleaner also. Concur on the cooling.

Here is what I did, used a cheap HF 2-wheel dolly and a bit of welding some scrap angle iron. The ammo box holds extra parts.

I like it. Nice job repurposing what you already have to meet your needs.

Do you weld with the welder in that bottom compartment, or do you set it out on top of the cart when in use?
