Hey, I have one of those Speetol sets! I have never posted it as it is missing the L wrench and the 2BA socket, but I could not resist the wood box.

And yes, the BA designation refers to British Association, which is not quite Whitworth derived as it has a 60* thread pitch, but the 1BA corresponds to the 1/8 Whitworth.

Th BA thread pitch is 47.5* and has next to nothing common to whitworth.

For Jeep work only WW2 tools are permissible. If you have the 1/4”/3/8” combination set you can fix larger outboards and lawn mowers.:)

Most of my Craftsman sets, the 9/32" box was a recent repaint.

When I posted my new Walden set upthread, I didn’t even notice that the ratchet was only partially knurled and unmarked. I went through my others and replaced it today.

Don, are you sure that the partially knurled ratchet is not original to that set? If not, perhaps it would be best to keep it in the set, since it documents what left the factory at that time.

Just a thought.

I’m sure that the ratchet is original to the set and I’m hanging onto it for sure. That set was very lightly used if at all. I appreciate your comments and will likely take your advice.

I was sorting through my recent garage sale acquisitions and found these two 1/4dr hand drivers in the bottom of the box. Williams and an Armstrong, both have a female 1/4dr in the handle base. A closer inspection revealed the handles click backwards from their locked position to allow the driver to spin within the handle. Pretty neat and I hadn’t seen these before so I thought I’d post them up here.

I see that there's been quite a few posts made since I last visited this thread. I'll have to remember to go back and check out some photos.

d42jeep - I guess I should not be surprised that you grabbed that pretty SW 1/4" set on the previous page (with the blue insert in the box.)
I was tempted, until I considered how many Walden 1/4" sets I already owned.
It was truly a test of my own self discipline.

These are the Walden sets I dug out earlier today for some photo comparisons.
First an early Walden Worcester 5/16" hex drive SAE set, which (unless I'm mistaken) appears to be complete, and my guess is that it predates the green-box "Stevens Walden" set that Oldtuleguy has.
I need to see if I can dig up some early Walden catalogs or advertisements in which these oddball Walden sets can be found.

Walden Worcester 39120-20 9/32" square drive SAE socket set.
As noted in the Walden thread, this set originally contained all 12-point sockets. It is missing the drive accessories and the 5/16" socket is unfortunately all rounded out.

Another Walden Worcester 39120-20 9/32" square drive SAE socket set that's lost somewhere in this mess. These are the photos from the Ebay ad.
Note the 39120-23 Spintite handle is missing, and the 1/4" socket is unfortunately rounded out.
It seems they made two versions of this set. The set above contained all 12-points, but this one contains 6-points on the 3/16", 1/4", and 9/32" sizes.
Neither set originally included a 7/32" socket, which was pretty much standard equipment on later 1/4" drive sets.

Last year, got to comparing some Craftsman, Williams, Indestro product, and a few other 1/4 breaker bars.

Not a pretty set or anything but thought some might like to see them together.

I’d have to agree. 3bay, I see that four.cycle and I aren’t the only ones with a 1/4” drive thing around here! Those pictures most have been some work.

Here is a RTEC Walden based set I picked up lately. It’s missing several difficult to find items. I’d like to find a more complete example.

I'm sure I posted my RTEC 1/4" drive set way back in this thread, but here we go again:

Randolph Tool Equipment Co. 1.4 SAE socket set 01.jpgRandolph Tool Equipment Co. 1.4 SAE socket set 02.jpg
Randolph Tool Equipment Co. 1.4 SAE socket set 03.jpg

Somewhere around here is a set of RTEC ignition wrenches and a tiny pair of 5-inch ignition pliers.

The spinner on mine is wonky - the detent ball is stuck and won't hold onto the sockets.

I should have bought one of those when I had the chance!:D I don’t suppose that you have a complete one with a little more patina to trade.

I don't normally go after sets since I'll just yank the ratchet out and misplace the rest in the garage, but I couldn't resist this None Better "set". I didn't have a 1/4" version of the early NB Costello ratchet in the obsess... er, collection because more often than not they're missing the drive stud, but now I got one. Discovered after hitting Twersty's huge catalog collection that the ratchet isn't part of the original set, so no harm separating it.

The Wright-sourced Klein also went relatively cheap so the matching sockets+ were a bonus.

No, I did not realize that, I'll keep them in mind for the future, still need New Brit, Crafts, and Husky versions.

I'm knockin' right along, FINALLY pulled out the 1/4" ratchets after my move 3+ years ago and laid most of them out in a map cabinet drawer - still have around 40 +/- more that need cleaning up, or are in pieces after soaking needing reassembly. Been focusing more on 1/4" drives the past few years than 3/8 and 1/2 - trying to complete more trifectas.

Here's a crappy disorganized pic of just the 1/4's in their temp drawer home. Someday I gotta drag out, clean up, and repopulate the two 5 drawer cabs that housed the obsess... er, collection - I've got a good dozen+ large shoebox sized tubs full of ratchets wanting to see the light of day again...
