That's a sweet set, Dan. Complete, good condition, box in good condition, with a very nice nearly unblemished decal. Can't ask for much more than that.

Gun to my head Top 5 scores, ever.
Yeah it was ! And of course I was an idiot and didn’t jump on one when you were selling them but now regret passing on the one with the plomb spinner handle.

Anybody know of a rattle can that matches that color. I have at least one of thos boxes that needs to be repainted.

"The closest I've found is from Grainger, a spray paint called Dem-Kote Blue Gray, their stock number is 5FX11." Now, that is for a Logan lathe, which, I think you will find, is pretty close to that blue-grey, at least to my tired eyes.

A midget Williams set I thought was nice enough to put up. Someone looks to have added maybe a couple extra wrenches because they look different from most of the set which looks to have hardly ever been used. I am guessing late-40s for it's vintage.

Oh, and here is another Craftsman "V" set which looks to have had little use. PO has added a couple of square "V" sockets and an old deep-well MAC to the box. The V ratchets were never my favorite to use because of the lack of the release button, but with 1/4" drive it is not annoying like it is on the large 1/2" drive tools.

PEC socket set. Don't know much about these but thought it looked cool.

In going through my orphan sockets, I found a PEC 7/16” if anybody is looking for one.
-Don
These PEC tools don’t seem to show up very often but these sockets were included in a kind of mixed partial wartime S-K set that arrived yesterday. IMG_6540.pngIMG_7938.jpeg

California / California Co., Beverly Hills, CA / "CALCO" /

PEC / PEC Tools / Products Engineering Co., 2645 Maricopa St, Torrance, CA 90503 (originally Santa Monica) / https://pec.tools/ / precision measuring devices / est. 1960 /

I have to wonder if the "PEC" photos I have from a 2018 ebay ad are your set, OTG.
Same box? Brushed aluminum?
Same HINGE?
Same clip-in divider piece that falls out?

1947 ? :headscrat

If I'm not mistaken, that "1960" date came from the company's website.

Stamp on my box looks a bit cleaner. Don't see much pec stuff, not sure if they even made their own sockets. Calco sure looks similar.

^ I don't believe I've ever seen any PEC stuff. I don't think "CALCO" made anything except maybe the box, and even that would surprise me, based on what @Private Lugnutz dug up about that general geographic area immediately post WWII - sounded kind of like a wild-west-anything-goes speculator's paradise.

I've found another rabbit hole :ROFLMAO:, love my !/4 " sets, have around 30- got a thing for them, I'll post a few Aussie ones -1972 -2000

This is my rarest the only 27 piece set I've seen (most 21 or 23 or combined 1/2 and/or 3/8) no catalogue info for it or the 4 additional sockets.

Came like this, which is why the price was reasonable - the only tool I have that's dated to the day - 13/5/1992

Already had the missing tools and swapped the ratchet pictured here for a NOS from a friend last week, he suggested it, it's good to have 2-way people to deal with, the set is 'as new now'

Crosslinking a discussion on those famous "Deco" brand 9/32-drive spinners/drivers, which also apparently came in 1/4-drive from Deco as well as Stevens-Walden, in the 'Ratchet' thread, starting here, for continuation of the discussion on this thread, and for easier finding later.

Here are the ones I’ve run across.
9/32” driveIMG_1341.png
Poor attempt to resize to 1/4” drive on my second one. IMG_7877.jpeg
I‘m now watching for a Walden 1/4” drive example.

Walden had their own number for it. I think it's likely they bought the deco molds.

Did this help anything? Never saw any replies, and kinda forgot about it.
Same. I remember seeing Deco Machine references in Google Books, along with the Deco Tool and Deco Supply I mentioned upthread here, but they were all Snippet-Only views. At the time, I never followed up. Now, I will ask the Google Books team to try to unlock them.

I just tried some USPTO searches for Deco, South Gate, spinner and socket, spinner and handle, socket and handle, and didn’t find it yet.

Found several other tools not in DATAMP tho.

Of course. Me too. it's weird how this popped up out of nowhere. Until I mentioned them again, in reply to 3bay finding a ratchet with the same name, I never knew they appeared in an STW catalog, I never knew yours was 1/4-drive, and I never knew Tom had an STW example! Sometimes we the easily distracted **** at follow-through around here! :)

I was putting some things away that had been piling up. In one of the drawers were these three mid 40's sets. Craftsman had a volatile supplier list right around WWII. Husky circle H, Plomb circle U and early Moore Drop Forge beveled socket set.

Recently purchased this crescent 1/4 drive socket box of the Ebrrr. Had not seen any crescent boxes out in the wild. Good condition and fairly legible original sticker on the inside. Now to go see what Crescent sockets I've got in the shop...1000029310.jpg1000029311.jpg

Search of the flood ravaged Crescent and Apex toolbox reveals no 1/4 drive sockets except a 10mm (yes I found it)...perhaps I'll find some USA Crescent 1/4 drive at the flea market this weekend...the box looks 1970ish and states LMB9, 8 six point sockets and a spinner
