Some progressive pics of a father/son 1/4" drive Snappy project that morphed over a few years.

We started with a box and a single speeder handle. Our goal was to try and re-create a 167-TM set from 1971.

http://collectingsnapon.com/catalogs/catalogs.php?loggedin=0&catalogPage=2528

Though the final result is not exactly period correct and with some added pieces, we were both pretty pleased.

I'm positive that this was the set that started my addiction .....:willy_nil

So that looks like one of every 1/4" drive piece snap on makes? Well done sir!

Those craftsman ratchets are interesting. Who made those? Aa says snap on.
I thought that Circle H were made by New Britain.
They were. I think Otg may be thinking of the C-series. What makes these open head ratchets just a little discomfiting to ID by the Circle-H mark alone is the fact that they did not have a New Britain, NB, NONE BETTER or Husky counterpart.

One of my favorite all time 1/4" ratchets. This one is too nice to use! I have a beat up one that still works great.

The 2875 52-tooth Indestro (and your Duro equivalent there) is arguably one of the best 1/4" drive RHFT ratchets ever made.
I have quite an assortment of 1/4" RHFT models, and it's still one of the nicest of the lot.

I can't disagree. Very smooth little ratchet!

Here is a picture of the wood racks/ shelves I made to display my sets on my plomb tool boards I made. It makes them easy to grab and easy to see as well

Looks like you need a few more sets to fill up those nice shelves!

Back in March I found these pieces together at an estate sale in Oakland. At the time, I wasn’t aware that Plomb used unmarked boxes of this style after they were no longer using the embossed boxes, so I used the pieces to fill other sets. Username has a postwar set in a red version of this box. Smokeshow’s 9/32” drive set box looks the same as well. I am now gathering the tools to complete this set although I’ve heard that the 1/4” drive early pebble flex handles are quite rare. I assume based on the early pebble ratchet that this set was made in 1945.

Smoke, that looks great.

Thanks rubicon!

D42- you have so many nice sets. I doubt I will ever get that many variations but one can try. It may take me a bit as I try to only buy in the wild if I already have 2 plomb sets but so far I have never found any in the wild [emoji51] I love your naf set! I would love to find a craftsman circle u (plomb) made 1/4 set but they where only made a few years so we shall see

Nice set. My first toolset was Thorsen. Since the early tools were made in Emeryville they turn up at a lot of sales around here. I’ve developed a pretty sizable collection in the last couple of years.

A very Herbrandish looking ratchet.... A bit of a rough factory finish, but it's got a butter smooth action.

A comparison pic with an early model Herbrand ratchet. The Herbrand has a vertical
movement shift selector where as the Bon E Con has a horizontal movement shift selector.

When we last saw this grubby little NB set in public, the flex spinner didn't have a handle.

attachment.php

Thanks to a Giant Elf from California, who stuffed a donor generic spinner into a stocking of K-D and ACTION pieces, that has changed!

attachment.php

This set, saved from the scrap yard in horrible condition, has some de-rusting scars, but it's fairly complete, including a screwdriver bit, the factory tommy bar for the hinge handle, and now, a decently disguised flex spinner.

Thanks, Otg. It'll do!

Full admission, see Pic 1 for what the "choreography" is hiding. It's a shame, because the other sides (see Pic 2) are relatively blemish free. All the other pieces are fine.

I'm very happy with the save.

Vintage Bonney. My guess is that this set is from the late 50s.

Very nice CRTDI.

Lugz, good save and carefully matched repair job!

Snagged this little goodie off ebay...

Nice one. I have that set also.

New today, half a Penens Challenger set. Twertsy posted a whole set I believe. Good news is I likely have the ratchet.
