All,

As i shared in a previous post i have moved into a new home and unfortunately the garage is much smaller that the one i had before. So i have had to make things compact and utilize my storage space much better. I have links to my power tool tower and my drill press stand below if you are interested.

Below are photos of my folding workbench. It is two pieces of 3/4 inch plywood glued and screwed together to make the worktop. It is 30 inches by 78 inches by 1.5 inches thick. The worktop is at a 33 inch work height. The legs are 2x4's doubled up with a pocket for the 2x4 cross brace. I used 1/2 inch diameter carriage bolts with flat washers and a lock washer. The legs pivot on the 1/2 carriage bolt that is in double shear so the legs wont move or be able to twist. It is a good solid workbench with plenty of mass to allow me to beat on it and it not jump all around. I am really pleased with it. Since i took these photos i have added a full length shelf above with magnetic tool strips on the front. Also when it is folded up it is just under 6 inches thick. I would be happy to answer any questions.

That looks nice. I am hoping to build something similar (albeit smaller) but want to figure out a way to make the legs fold to the back of the bench instead of up under the benchtop. The idea being that the legs will be on casters and if I can swing the legs inward and then fold the top down that it'll remain on the casters and be easy to move in/out of the garage as it's primary use would be an outdoor workbench for projects I didn't want to do inside.
