My Small Shop Is Done!

If you have watched my other threads, I had been showing pictures of my shop while in progress. Today the garage door was installed and basically, the shell is done. Other than weeks and months and years of outfitting my new shop to come, and getting the asphault work done so I can park a car in my new shop (it is higher than my driveway at the moment), it is "kinda" done.

For those not aware, it is not big. 20x20 with a 10 foot sidewall and 12 pitch roof. Just enough to park two of my vintage VWs inside and work on them. It is 2 story so I have a office space upstairs (one day as I need to do that part still). I am stoked.

So, here she is. My amish (no power to it as of now) VW Shop.

That's a good looking little building. Doesn't have to be a 2500 square foot space to be useful and a cool place to hang out. Good luck on the rest of the process- looks like fun.

Yes, the door is nice. Kinda of a carriage looking door. It is still a sectional roll up on tracks. They put nifty details on it to make it look pretty. I thought my wife would like that part. It is functional and purty!

Oh, by the way, this is a 16' x 9 foot door. Nice and tall.

My expierence shows me that a shop is never "done" There is always something to be added or improved. Is that metal roofing on the sides? If it is, I think that's a damned fine idea! Walls insulated?

No insulation. That is down the road.

How much ceiling height do you have upstairs? Mine has the beams at 5 foot intervals at 6.5' foot tall and then above that is about 3.5 feet to the roofline. I would say I have a nice 8 foot wide x 20 foot long swath down the middle without bumping the noggin so nice little office space down the road.

Where are you located? The property and house look like on nice land.

It's a 12/12 pitch and 19 feet wide overall. The door is not exactly in the center due to the 5 foot offset on the left. that makes it about 9+ feet to the peak. Useable clearance upstairs is reduced only the thickness of the rafters which is 6". Useable dimensions upstairs would be 27 feet by about 9 feet. Thats discounting the low area along the sides. Thats storage. I'm located between Granbury and Weatherford Texas, (north central). Joe

Both air and h20 cooled.

Amishman, I LOVE the garage. Very nice. It's similar in size to my garage that was already here when I bought my house. 12-12 pitch roof and all.
