My Snap-On refurb

Last summer I found a deal. A gentleman was selling an old 9 drawer red toolbox, and a large green, hand made steel cabinet on casters - for $50 total.

Both were in rough shape, and the guy told me that the green cabinet was handmade at Allison Transmissions in their manufacturing plant here in Indianapolis. It's super heavy duty.

He didn't know the manufacturer of the red tool box. I knew it was a good piece because even though it was in rough shape, the drawers still slid nicely.

Here is my refurb on the red tool box. After stripping the paint, I found out it was a Snap-On, I think it was from the '60s.

Nice job. It's so unusual to see one of those Heavy Duty Road cases in black. A $2K+ box for $50 is not too bad; make the effort to refinish it pretty worthwhile.

That was a great deal! Great job on the refurb! Are you doing the bottom cabinet also?

I do plan on refurb-ing the bottom green cabinet. I'll wait till when the weather is warmer. That thing has at least 6 layers of paint. It was white, blue, red, and different colors of green. Once I tear away all the paint, I'll match the smaller Snap-On. Should be pretty cool... I'll make sure and document and post it all on here!
