Saw this toolbox on CL last night and had to buy it. It was listed for $375 and got it for $325. The sellers sister said she just wanted it out of her garage and would pay him the difference, I should of offered her $300. The box is in good condition the drawers all open easily, it will need to be sanded down and repainted, will need some sheet metal that will need to be straightened nothing major, and the cabinet door hinge will need some new pop rivets.
The other items pictured are another CL find I found a few months back, Wilton and Yost vises, Dayton battery charger(working), and 2 1969 Texas plates all for $80. I started on the Wilton vise but haven't had the chance to finish it up. I was wondering if anyone had any info on the charger here are some numbers 3Z633, 141 060. I havent had any luck finding any info on it.
I'm still so stoked on finding the tool box.:rocker::eyecrazy::willy_nil.

that's a good deal on that chest - I had one, but I didn't like it - I didn't like the way the drayers were reinforced / divided since that limited the way I could arrange my tools

My understanding is Snap On made / designed these for aircraft workers working on airplanes, and that is why there were drawers in the front, and on one end - not sure if that's true or not

either way, GREAT find / GREAT price!!!! How much was she going to pay her brother "to make up the difference?"

Very nice find. I hope the other thread OP on the taco wagon he was asking about if 1K was good price reads this thread. I think you saved over 200 on what a good price for those are.

Rip off? Hardly... Overpriced? Yeah a little. There is a lot to be said concerning location/condition. As a recent explant from the Windy City and a lifetime spent in the City and Northwest Suburbs I can assure you that box in nice condition would bring $750-$1000 all day long. Granted the OP got a great deal. However his box will need quite a bit of tool box loving to make that a valid comparison.

To the OP Congratulations that is worthy of a "You ****!"

Yeah, far better deal than the far-more-beat-to-**** example in the local CL that someone wants $1K for.

Not too shabby at all.

Really nice toolbox score, that would go for $750 here with little problem.

Was that the one that was for sale here in Texas?
If your refering to the one located in Sugar Land your correct. I live about 15min. away from their. I was sure that it was already sold when I called about it this morning and didn't get a response till about 11 this afternoon. I think I saw this on CL about a month ago and was listed for $475.
As for the one listed for 1500 I'll have to agree with Wornoutoldman. I'm not sure when this one was made couldn't find the ID#, some of the drawers had that fake grass carpet stuff(not sure what u call it)and the rubber padding stuck to some of the drawers.
Outlawmws I plan on working on the charger and vises hopefully pretty soon just been so busy with work and stuff that I need to do around the house. When I get started on working on them and finish them up I'll post some pics. Does anyone have any info where I can get a manual on the charger. Haven't had any luck on the internet. Maybe I'm not putting in the right words or #'s in the search. I'll keep trying something is bound to come up.

I think you got one hell of a bargain. I had one just like it many years ago. I to did not like the way the drawers were divided. I have been looking for another one for my overflow tools. I saw one last year at the Turlock,(California), swap meet, it was brand new, still had the original shipping pallett & cardboard box with all the paperwork, including the old pre- computer sales reciept. It belonged to an old mechanic who died without ever opening the box or using it. His son had it for sale for$4,250.00! I thought it was to much & passed on it! My local snap on dealer refers to it as a taco wagon!

That was a steal for $325. Why does it need to be repainted? Doesn't look all that bad to me.

I have the same question. I have repainted and not repainted stuff. I think its fun to get it looking right, but I get your point and all the tools boxes and cabinets that I have not repainted are still working fine.

That is one great deal at that price!

I have been looking for a large roller like that for awhile, if I would have seen that deal I would have had to include in the price the speeding tickets I would have got getting to the deal.

You do get a "You ****" on that deal!

Nice box!

The paint is not in the best condition and its not in the worst condition. Waxing it would probably bring it back to life. Their is some rusting going on underneath the paint in some spots so I thought if I'm going to be sanding on it might as well do the whole thing.
