This evening I worked on putting in some 2x6 on the end wall to catch the ceiling and slung up a few more pieces of insulation. I am a little shy on 2x6s. I will have to pick up a couple or wait until the weather improves to saw them on the sawmill. I then moved to the metal fabrication corner. I got some rigging set up on the shear, and moved it to what I plan to be it's new resting place. I didn't snap any photos because it was late, and still quite messy. I didn't have the motivation at 11:00 PM after working all day to keep going. Weather calls for rain tomorrow, so I hope to get some more shop time in. But I also have to get a new front door installed, and do some painting inside the house, to keep the the girlfriend happy.

I've been checking in here on your progress from time to time JP. Looking good. I had to go over to Athens to pick up something for my wife the other day and from there over to Pomeroy to our vet., so I probably drove near your place on 33.

You were in my neck of the woods for sure.

All,
some pictures. We had a very warm day so took advantage of it to get the new door "installed" I don't really know the "right" way of doing it, and needless to say when it didn't fit I improvised. Gotta touch up the paint on the door jamb, and it's not perfect, but the door is up The new door is courtesy of Tayler's dad. He works at a place near Lima that has something to do with doors and trim work. This one had some damage, and he got it, fixed it up, and painted it to the colors she wanted. Would love to replace the entire thing, but a free door beats a 1500 plus dollar setup to replace sidelight and all.

Fighting the door meant I didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped in the garage. I did go to the lumber yard and get the 2x6 to finish the end wall ceiling attachment. I just didn't get it put it in like I had hoped. Shear and brake from where I moved them Friday night

Sadly I screwed up on the placement of the light switch for this area. It is right behind the filing cabinet, but I will make it work.

I finished the ceiling insulation in the shop today. The last 40 foot was a pain. I didn't have any help, so I had to use a bit smaller pieces of insulation. I also made a cover and put the same r19 on it for the ceiling.

I thought I would elaborate a little further on the tools I used to put up the insulation. I started using the pneumatic stapler at the beginning of the project.

This particular stapler worked pretty good. It is fairly light, until you have to drag the air hose around with it. I am not a big fan of the trigger setup, but understand the purpose of it for safety reasons. You have to engage one trigger, then the next one. This thing will shoot staples as quickly as you can pull the trigger which is nice.

I bought some Milwaukee m12 and m18 stuff. I was going to hold off another year on the Milwaukee stuff because I have a cheaper 12 volt drill and impact driver from menards, and a rockwell 16 volt drill and impact driver. But I had some gift cards to Home Depot and the Christmas promotions for Milwaukee made it too good to pass up another year.

I have pictured the stuff before, but went ahead and grabbed another of the m12 stapler. I purchased the m12 fuel impact driver, hammer drill, and this stapler for around 220 dollars on sale. I will eventually add more m12 line.

This thing is a lifesaver. It meant no dragging an air hose around, no compressor kicking on and off. It is a bit slower than the pneumatic stapler, but the compact battery lasted forever. I am no professional, and not working at it for a living so I'm not moving as fast as someone who does it as a career, but the compact battery had no issue outlasting how long I could deal with the itchy insulation. In doing 2/3 of the ceiling, and over half of the walls I charged the battery once. It still had some juice left when I charged, but I didn't want to risk having to charge it and throw in the larger capacity battery.

I have a extra long weekend this weekend. I have Monday off for Presidents' Day, and ended up shutting the office down Friday because the power was out. I used that as a head start on my weekend project. I wish it were getting something done in the garage, but it is a house task. With all the unexpected issues with the house, and the basement remodel, I never got around to doing much painting. This weekend that changed. I painted the ceilings in the living/dining/entry/hallway during the week, and was planning on going after work Friday to pick up paint, and supplies.

Since I had Friday off I jump started the weekend project and headed to Parkersburg, WV with the girlfriend to finalize color selection, and get what I needed. I managed to get everything prepped, and a coat of paint on the living/dining/hall Friday night. Saturday was second coat of paint for the upstairs, and a first coat of paint for the entryway. Today consisted of second coat for the entryway, and replacing outlets, and switches. I ended up being a couple switches shy, guess I should have double or triple checked my count.

Here are a couple shots of the ceiling being painted a few days ago

In that last photo you can see the old doorbell cover. Tayler was complaining about how ugly it was, and how we needed to replace it. I took some creative liberty with it last night. I used some burlap she picked out to refinish an old record cabinet (another pending project, that is yet to be started) I came up with this.

Living room is starting to go back together, don't mind the stuff on the floor, we were discussing some shelving and where the tv would mount. That project starts with a trip to Ikea tomorrow.

We absolutely love this color, and would have used it upstairs if it wouldn't have made the place look like a dungeon. I overestimated slightly on the paint, but we put the accent color to work in the kitchen.

The kitchen leaves a lot to be desired, and needs some work, but at least now we have something we love about it.

This weekend was spent not really accomplishing much. I got rid of a bunch of cardboard from the garages, and finished hanging the bottom piece of drywall. This means I can start working on getting things back organized and in place.

I also picked up a new addition for the shop. I got a used Harbor Freight bandsaw. I see a lot of people on the forum seem to like them. I cut a few pieces of metal, and it is way better than a portaband, or cutoff wheel on an angle grinder. Time will tell, but the guy I purchased from said it worked great for him. Until I can build up some extra funds to purchase a better one hopefully this one will last me.

I think I have enough angle leftover to build a stand for my bead roller. I am going to anchor it to the floor next to the shear. It should have a similar footprint to the input material supports on the shear, so hopefully it will work out. It won't be anything fancy, just a couple rectangles out of angle with legs to tapcon or anchor into the floor and to bolt the bead roller to the top of it. I have never had the bead roller mounted to anything where it could be used, and I have owned it for at least 5 years so that's nice.

So far I have enjoyed having the little bandsaw. I cut up a bunch of angle to start work on a stand for the bead roller.

I would like to be working with new stock, and it would be a lot easier to weld, but I have this stuff laying around, and it doesn't cost me a dime. I am going to anchor it to the floor, and then bolt a piece of angle to it that can pivot the bead roller around as needed. I just ran out of steam this evening.

I currently only have one set up dies for the bead roller, but If i ever add anymore I will make some sort of storage on the stand.

Progress has slowed. I got sick a couple weeks ago, and have been struggling to recover. I'm feeling much better, but still not 100 percent. Last weekend some buddies were over working on an enclosed trailer. They do Civil War re-enacting, and use the enclosed trailer to haul all of their stuff. I have tagged along a couple times to camp, but haven't decided if the actual re-enacting thing is for me.

We built some shelving units in the small enclosed trailer to better suit hauling all their gear. We also built some brackets for the ridge beam of the wall tents. I should have grabbed some photos, but we spent 10 hours rushing around trying to accomplish everything we wanted, and I didn't get any. The next time they are out I will try to remember to snap a few photos of the work we did.

I have also been working on organizing and getting things put back together. I moved the saw horses with all the lumber out of the way of the workbench and my tool box. I have been slowly working on getting my tools back in order. It isn't much progress, but here it is.

I need to haul a bunch of scrap drywall and junk that has accumulated away. It isn't picture but it is taking up the space of around half a car.
