Here are some pictures of my space saver workbench I built about 2 years ago. I`ve seen a lot of post about saving room in the garage and I know about that first hand. I wanted a workbech that would enable me to move it if I needed to pull the car in or anything else, and also just get it out of the way when I wanted to. I bought the plans from www.woodcraft.com I had to modify a few things as you usually have to wth some of these plans. They want you to use brad nails to assemble the whole thing, I prefer wood screws and they also only wanted the workbench to sit at 32" tall, well thats a little short fo me so I raised it and as a result had to stager the legs on the bottom instead of them folding them into each other. Small things to fix. Its an awsome workbech and its HEAVY!! Plus it bolts to the wall "I prefer 3/8 Lag bolts into the studs" so its really sturdy! It also has a light in the top, hard to see but its up there, just a regular home depot 4ft 2 tube neon light.

Oldtractors- I hear ya, its hard sometimes to keep them clean, but I only clean it up when I have to.

Steve- When its folded up I think it only sticks out about 10" from the wall.

That is an excellent idea -- not only for a workbench, but also as a gardening bench for repotting plants. My wife's been wanting a potting bench on the garden shed. Your design might just fit the bill if I build it out of pressure treated lumber.

Thanks for sharing!!

Thats pretty cool! Sure would like something like that at the back ends of the garage where I usually work on the trucks, keeps the tools a bit more organized on the bench than swearing looking for them on the floor.

Thats exactly why I did it, since my garage was being used reguarly I had to have an alternative to a regular bench or we coulnt pull a car in.
