30 x 40 three car garage build with storage loft

My old 80 plus year old garage had seen better days, and was never big enough. Paid house off this January and decided it was time for a new garage.
old before, empty.

Time to start over. Area was all clay. Some spots we're down 6'+. 10" footing and 82" walls. A retired friend and myself did cement work. My friend/ old boss did the digging/ removal.

I then filled it all back in with good gravel.

The building starts. Just my brother in law, my nephew (8) and myself. He gave me two weeks of hard work. Thanks Dean!

Since my brother in law left it's a much slower process all alone. Wrapping/ strapping outside along with eaves/ soffit. It is almost done though. Windows came in today.
It won't have siding this year, next.
Things to do:
windows, doors, pour floor, electrical and make a set of stairs. There is a 7x12x40 room upstairs for storage.
I now have 4 cars. So I'll need a 4 post lift to get them all inside!
1956 Chevy 150 2 door
1987 Mustang GT
2003 Camry
2009 Ram

I'll try and post more as I go along. I'm a shift worker, so be patient.

Hate to see the old garage get the Claw of Death !!
Was this because no way to get it out on trailer ??

Nice big shop and beautiful property. Keep the pics coming.

Update GJ Profile with a Location so fellow GJer's will have idea of building methods in your particular country, state, etc. Good luck.

Yeah sad to see it go. It was too big to get out of yard on a trailer. Wooden floor was rotten, sills were in ground 6", needed a new roof/ rafters. It did it's time.
Location updated. Eastern Canada. Maritimer

Wow, that is a giant space. How deep is it? My Ram is a Crew with 6' bed, no way it's fitting in my standard detached. I take it those angle pieces above the bays are for snow drift?

ETA: I see the title, 30' deep. Awesome.

Ever see one of these? I used to sit in that baby seat on the back. While me and my dad cruised the neighborhood!

Your garage looks awesome! I really like the colors you chose for the outside. I'm in the planning stage of my 30x40 shop. What's the ceiling height and garage door size? Are you happy with what you chose? Would you do anything different?

Colour is granite. Doors are 10x9. Ceiling is 11' I believe. I don't think I would have done anything different.
I would have made the 4th door maybe. Lol
Would have loved to have someone else do all the work. But I saved at least 50%.

Nice to see some progress! The old garage looked pretty nice, but would've been a lot of work to fix/refurb and or expand. Still sad to see it go but I understand the benefits of starting with a clean slate!

Keep up the good work!
Cheers!

Thanks for the thread! I was thinking 30x40 for my garage and shop but your photos helped make it clear it will need to be 40x40 at least.

Love the siding color and lights over each door too!!

Yeah, a Velosolex! I'm restoring a 1974 3800 now. Rustiest critter I've ever seen.
