Just a couple snap shots of my most recent project...eventually the walls will be finished but for now just bare studs. Tool boards will come off easily when the time to finish comes...there is a top/outer section on a rail made of aluminum channel and rolling on garage door rollers that can slide to expose either side. The top half is 1/2" MDF painted and the bottom is silver pegboard from HD....I also found some great pegboard hooks at Big Lots (local discount store) that are "for 1/4" pegboard only" that work great, they are a very tight fit and don't come out, don't even wigggle. Similar to these, the extra nub is a very tight friction fit.

Looks good! Gotta love pegboard.

FYI, if those pegs ever do start falling out, Northern sells pegboard hooks made by Triton that screw into the pegboard and NEVER fall out. They're a little more expensive but I got so tired of the pegs falling out and bouncing underneath my work bench never to be seen again.

This is the set but you can buy them all individually.

After a couple days of small projects in the garage I am loving this setup, that of course is compared to tools scattered everywhere from moving into the garage....the organization I've used with mechanics tools on one side, carpentry/woodworking on the other, and commonly used, and anything that sticks out very far in front means that I don't even have to slide it much if at all during one project....yesterday was spark plugs and I didn't have to move it.

Thanks for the link to the screw in hooks. I had seen something similar called Talon Hooks or something and was contemplating getting those after have used the ones with the plastic "locking" pieces that go across the hook with little success. These 1/4" ones were $1.50 for 10 so I gave them a shot and just got lucky.

another quick fix for the hooks it to wrap a zip tie through a couple holes on either side of the hook down low. It keeps up from falling out and is cheap.

Looks good. I used a lot of pegboard for a while, then I got concerned about all my tools being out it the open and visible to anyone who might be interested in obtaining them when I'm not there. Now I keep most of the expensive and specialty tools in my rolling cabinet under lock and key so it doesn't look as obvious. My rolling cabinet is somewhat hidden from view when looking into the garage.

I use heavy guage wire instead of pegs. I bend it in a sort of "S" with a long leg going into and behind the pegboard. Works great and they don't fall out.
