I am almost done with my welding cart. I still need to attach one side and paint it.

I needed a way to have a cart and a table that I could break the down in under a minute. The file cabinet keeps all my welding tools and my Miller mask.

Both Sides flip out and can be disconnected quickly.

View media item 12780
To assemble the unit, Flip out one side and put in the third leg. The extra leg is kept in the back with the tank.

View media item 12781
Slide in the two smaller squared tubes.

View media item 12782
Remove the table from the other side and slide it over the smaller square tubes.

View media item 12783
Pick up the table and move the third leg from the middle to the end and tighten the ten bolts.

This allows me to have a sweet large table and still allows the wife to park in the garage durring the great long Alaskan winters

I would like to replace the top grate with a nice thick 1/4 or 3/8 plate with slots cut into them.

I would also like to add a second set of holes to drop the table down 6 inches. The third leg is also adjustable.

The table is plenty strong, My 13yo didn't think it would support my fat 300 pound a$$. But it held it with no problem.

Nice design. I have been rethinking my cart, I think I may steal your side work table idea.

Thanks.

Sweet cart. I'm planning on getting my first welder next year and wanted to have it on a mobile cart, but not take up much space. I may have to borrow some of the ideas you used. Very nice.

I'm not the only one with a flip out welding table attached to my cart that also has drawers. And, I'm still not done with the thing.
Yours has more design than mine. Looks great!
I'm going to be forced to get the camera out.

It looks great!

What sort of welding work are you doing?

I would leave it just as it is, in terms of adding heavier steel to the top. The two benefits of a thicker table top -- flatness for layout and 'beefiness' for hammering -- are kind of beside the point when you've got a single leg supporting one side, wheels on the other side and a joint in the middle. Heavier steel would also make it more difficult to assemble, wouldn't it?

The filing cabinet is a good way to keep welding/grinding sparks from damaging your supplies. It doesn't make sense that so many welding carts have open shelves.

I've seen quite a few with toolboxes fitted inside the cart, more often the kind that have drawers in the top part & a hutch at the bottom for the helmet etc.. has the added advantage that you can use the wheels from the toolbox on the welding cart :)

Very cool. I may need to add something like that to my mig. Was planning some kind of grinder holder but may have to incorporate some sort of table as well.

That's slick! Nice work....any other space saving ingenuity you wanna share from your shop?

I do, I have a two car garage that during the winter months has a Ford Explorer in it most of the time. I will post a few of the ideas I have come up with or stole from someone else and not realized it.

Please post pics, I would love to see it. I came up with this about three years ago when I saw NUTTSGT's cart. All the credit goes to him, I just made the table break apart

I thought this would be great but it just needed to be bigger. I was already thinking of the file cabinet, then when I drew it out I saw the large empty spaces on the sides and BINGO. I have never liked thinking outside of the box. In most cases the space in the box is never fully used...

What sort of welding work are you doing?

Very Very Light fab work. Its only the base level Lincoln 100 MIG. I use my torch to preheat alot of the time.

I have a 66 Chevy C10 that I will start restoring here soon. So for the last three years I have been building tools to help me with the restore.

I am building matching stands for my shrinker stretchers. I am 100% stealing the design Lazze uses for his. I have built an easy metal brake and a few other items.

I would really like the ability to clamp down to a solid surface and not worry about heat warping or moving the metal. Putting a solid table on one of them might work. As for the one leg, I really cannot stress just how strong it currently is.

As for everyone else, Thanks

I missed your thread the first time around and just now reading it. Thanks for the compliment, it put a smile on my face knowing I helped somebody else.

I'm curious as to how your expanded metal top is holding up. I have found that mine has started to sag over the last year or so. I plan to get a piece of 1/4 plate and cover the top.

Thanks for bringing it back. Never seen it before and it looks slick.

I have a multi-use garage and while cars are no longer able to park in it, it still manages to be stuffed with ****.
