nice table and all.. but talk to me about that elephant sized english wheel!!

A bit of subject (sorry!)

The wheel is home made too
but I imported the upper wheel, quick release & the anvils (Hoosier)
The main frame is made from 10mm (3/8") plate, with the different sizes holes welded in (mostly steam pipe) then 5mm wrapped on the inside & out. The holes where just for looks, but ended up adding a heap of strength. The adjuster I made myself. It tapers from 6" to 3" where the wheels are.
It was left ruff finish before painting to look like it is cast.

I built it a while ago, it is now much traveled, as it was the only wheel at the first few Metal Meets here in Australia, but a 8 hour drive from here. It's even been on TV a few times :wtf::wtf::wtf:

Edit: You can still se the weld marks on the mobile bench from when I welded it.
It had to be set up with the 6" edge on the bench & then blocked up to the 3" side, so the centre line was level. Even the mounting faces for the adjuster & anvil holdr ended up perfectly square to each other in both directions, so no twist at all :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

I built this. It's 26 X 50 X 1/2 SS top with 3 X 3 X 1/4 angle iron legs. I have about $100 invested.

I usually weld on the the ground/concrete floor. Most of my projects are large enough that I would have to have a huge table to handle them. I have always wanted an Acorn Platen table, but have not had a lot of luck finding one that my poor **** can afford...

Acorn's description:
Acorn Platens are high tensile strength gray iron sand castings featuring 1 3/4" square holes spaced on 3 1/2" centers. The top surface and side edges are machined to a flatness of 0.005" per linear foot. We offer four standard sizes, as noted below, any of which can be easily bolted together expanding the work area to meet your requirements. The platens will offer a lifetime of service with quick, easy and accurate set up from the smallest piece to a maximum of six tons depending on platen size.

Personally I need a set up/ chassis table, so this is a fairly priority.
I should have bought one from the clearence of a car manufacturer not far away, but I just could not afford it at the time. One with drilled & taped holes every 4 inches would be great, but costly considering the amount of steel I would need :headscrat
Oh Well, maybe the chassis jig will have to come first
