I was talking to my grandpa a couple weeks ago and asked him if he'd ever had a toolbox with drawers (meaning not a handbox) and he said "nope" so i felt kinda bad. He's always had plenty of tools. just puts them in these old dresser drawers he cobhobbled together under his workbench. I tore down an old fence and took the wood from it to make this jobber. Its 26" wide, 14" deep 12" tall. Tomorrow i plan on painting (i'm going to paint his all-famous nickname on it) and putting handles on. I might put something together to hold the lid up (that stick thing ain't gonna stay). I may also put in some toolbox liner i have extra of. I'll be taking it to him tomorrow night, i hope he loves it!

You said cobbhobbled.
what is his all famous nickname? If you do not tell us, we are going to come together as a a vigilante group from the garage journal and t.p. your house. Unless you are on the phone in the garage, then we will wander around aimlessly and hide are bikes in the bushes.
he will love the box. Good for you for thinking of grandpa.

Looks pretty nice for some old fence boards. He will really like it for sure.

I stopped at the true value today and they didn't have any of the gear wrench sets for that price. Might want to try and call the other true vallues in the area and see if they have any for that price.

Speaking as a Grandpa he will love it.

Hell I even got a Billy Bass hanging on the wall of my bedroom just because the grandkids bought it at a yard sale for a dollar a few years ago and gave it to me.:shocking:

The batteries are removed though.

It's really nice you spent some time doing something just for your grandfather. That alone says a lot about your character. I think it's really nice when one of my grandkids just drops by to see me much less take the time to build me something. I know grandpa will be proud.

Thanks for the compliments guys,

Here's the finished product. I put felt pads under the lid so there wasn't a bang when you shut the lid. I don't know if i want to make something to hold the lid up or not because i don't know how it will go in my grandpas garage, the lid may be able to lean up against a wall. I also put the drawer liners from my HF box in the 2 drawers because i had the mesh no slip liners over those anyways, and the top part under the lid, i put the mesh no slip liner because i had some extra. I think the knobs should be fine, i thought about putting 1 on each side of the drawer but then it'd open unevenly and since they're just wooden slides, it needs to open from the center.

OH yeah, this thing did end up costing me $6 total. I had all the wood, the drawer liners, the knobs, and the felt pads. But i wanted it to be gray since it was already a form of gray and it'd be super easy to paint, plus his garage ain't that light so i didn't want it black, and i also didn't want to try and paint wood red.
