Hello all,
Second post on Garage Journal (after my official introduction post).
My fiancé and I bought our house in '13 and I've only managed to do one little project here and there on the garage as time allowed. Isn't there always something else that requires your time, energy and money?
Anyway, here are a few pics of the garage as its gone through various phases of completion. As it sits, it's far from complete, but one project at a time...
I'm its maiden form, apart from the shelves I put in to hold a few essentials:

After a miserable Rustoleum epoxy application. Found out later the concrete was sealed; that's why it went down so poorly and came up so easily:

Had a little incident with the ladder while trying to hang flags. Took out 2 shelves of detailing products on the way down...

More in the next post...

As of 2 days ago, here's what the garage looked like:

After years of wanting Race Deck, and admiring it on every car show I watched, every race I watched, every paddock I visited when I went to the races, my fiancé bought me my floor as an "Engagement Present" after I gave her a ring last month. She's a keeper!

She even told me to take pics of my car in there by itself so her Kia wouldn't ruin the picture :)

The Monster. I thought about doing red/white/black in this corner, but then the floor wouldn't have been symmetrical. Very bad for my OCD!

And I'm a geek,so I even painted my shop vac to match the floor and some of my other blue tools...

Next up, lighting. Tomorrow, perhaps! I'm planning on 4 Lithonia 4ft 4 bulb T8's w/ Phillips Daylight 6500K's.
Before the winter, I'd love to insulate the garage door with some 1" or 2" insulating board. Unfortunately I don't have the frames on the back of the panels that all the pre-fabbed kits are made for. I'll have to cut 4x8 panels to size and use adhesive. It gets really cold in the winter but I still like to detail all through the year.
Ultimately, I want much better and cleaner storage and organization, but as the saying goes... It's all just time and money!

Anyway, thanks for looking; happy to be here!

Your garage looks fantastic, well done.
I only wish is that mine presented that well.
Your fiancé has done well.

Well thank you for saying so. Now if I could only get something like that amazing bench you made, I'd be one step closer to the goal!
And yes, I think I snagged a good one! She even dropped down on the floor with me and made "Race Deck" angels when I finished popping in the last piece!

From the epoxy picture it looks good. Did you remove it all or just most of it?
The second attempt looks even better with the Race Deck design.
And those ladder incidents. Its that feeling of Ah Sh!t when it starts to move and all you can do is wait for the end result. At least your ok.
Congrats on the Engagement.

Congrats on the Engagement.

The first picture with the epoxy is the day that I did it. The rest of the pictures with the epoxy are just how it faded, stained, chipped and lifted over the course of 2 years. I didn't remove any of it between the day I put it down and the day I laid the Race Deck.
And I won't forget that ladder incident for sure! I knew the angle was not ideal, but I was trying to hang the flag on either sided the ladder and I needed to keep the top taut. Plus it was so hot and humid that there was almost a fine condensation on the floor. Total recipe for disaster. But that's me. Once I get an idea in my head, I have to try at least! Oh well. I got back on the ladder and hung the flag, I bought better shelves (a relative term), and nursed my ladder wounds.

I really like the color scheme and she is definitely a keeper.

Thanks :D
We're trying to decide on a color scheme for the walls now. After seeing the floor completed, she suggested a light gray. One of my favorite colors as well. Not sure if I want to try an accent portion or stripe?

Latest project completed: the lights! I should've taken a direct before picture for comparison, but I didn't. Trust me though, the difference is night and day! 4 Lithonia T8 48" fixtures with Philips 6500K Daylight bulbs, for a total 16 bulbs.

Up next, the installation of that foam board (leaning against the wall) on the door!
