Hey there I figured I'd show off what I've got as I do stuff to it. IMO my garage is too small, but aren't they all? It's an 18'x20' single with an attic and I've got a new 8'x15' shed out back. The original 8x10 shed was rotted out when I bought the house so it was the first to get redone. The garage is coming along as I can afford it. I've still got to upgrade the electrical, put in new lights, build a workbench, and finish flooring the attic. Eventually I want to build an attached 6'x8' storage area to hold my air compressor and engine hoist and stands(when not in use). And, hopefully, one day I'll add on to the house and get the darn washer and dryer out. But I'm terrible at posting pics so here are my gallery links: The Garage

i like the attic. thats going to come in handy. why not store your compressor up there?

Cause it's heavy as heck. The little Craftsman that might be in a pic is just the interm unit. I've got a 60gl vert with a twin cylinder-two stage motor on it. I'd have to do some serious reinforcing to the attic to keep it from vibrating the boards loose. And it's a bit tall to go up there. But it has already come in pretty handy. I can store all sorts of "junk" up there.

Well we got stage 1 of the workbench done today. It was the perfect height for me, until I added the vise. It'll work, but I should have made it about 4" shorter. I think I'll do that with the corner sections when I build them. It'll look odd, but this section is just too heavy to worry about cutting.

I finally got some time and money to work on my garage again. *FYI: Getting married takes up way too much time, money, and effort. And I'm just having a backyard BBQ.* So anyhow, I got a new lighting circuit ran and put up some fluorescent fixtures. They're nothing fancy, and I think I might add another to run parallel to the workbench. But these are a heck of a lot better than the four 100w incandescent lights that were in there. And now the wire going to my lights has a ground and junction boxes. No more e-taped and twisted connections. New Lights

Talk about blowing the dust off of a thread. Well I've been putting off almost all of my garage projects due to, well life. But now I'm all caught up on the two DD trucks and then current project truck is on the downhill side of the project. So now it's time to get back to work on the garage. I'm finally at the "lets buy some material" stage of the garage add-on for my compressor. I got Goggle Sketch Up and started playing around with it. I'm not very good, so don't laugh too hard at my little drawing. I also built a "slop" bench for messy work. It's an aluminum frame that was given to me, with a 1" tall steel grate and 3/4" plywood for a top, and it's wrapped in a sheet of galvanized steel(all freebees). The compressor room is 6'x5.5' with a 79"x36" doorway. Just enough room for the compressor, cherry picker, and some extra stuff. I still need to pick out some plumbing for the air lines though. And whomever made that model of the Blue Point compressor, thanks!

Finally got a welding cart. I wasn't using this cart except to haul trash out of the shop at work, so I re-purposed it. I don't think it's too bad for only a few hours of work. And the welder isn't laying on the floor anymore. The sign was on an old welder we trashed at work and I thought it was worth saving. I dunno why, I just like it.

I'll get some pics up later tonight, but nature decided to pee on my project today. Before that happened though the wife and I managed to get all the framing and exterior plywood installed. We also got the compressor bolted down. I'd like to finish the roofing tomorrow, but I'm without a ground-man and I just don't like being up on a roof alone.

Got the pics together, I only liked two of them enough to share though. I've still got a good amount of work to do to this room. I've got to add a wall and roof vent, finish the roof, run power and air pluming, and put a door on for starters. I also managed to break the chuck on my 1/2" dual-purpose hammer drill. I'll fix it as the parts are only $20, but it gives me a great excuse to buy a better drill.

I'll have to get a pic up but I did get the door hung and everything painted on that compressor room. I want to get vinyl siding on the shed and the comp room, I'd also like to get everything in matching black shingles, that that will have to wait. We're thinking of looking into getting a remodel loan next year, so hopefully that'll all get done them. I've been too lazy/busy to get the compressor wired up though. I did manage to get my air hose reel mounted where I want it, so that's a plus. And I'm working on some garage door integrated air hose whip storage.


But I figured I put up some pics of the other projects that take my attention from fixing up the garage. The wife's a big help on these, the 96 Cherokee is actually hers. That's a 2wd 5-speed that we swapped a Mercedes 5-cylinder turbo diesel into over the summer. The M715 is my long-term project, currently it doesn't run. And the Wagoneer is my baby/daily-driver.

Small world... I happen to have a 715 with a Rhino grill that's my long term project too. I also HAD at one time a waggy almost that exact same shade, does yours have the orange shagadelic carpet in it?

We got the adapter from here, Koch Enterprises. It's a nice piece and worth the cost, IMHO. Overall the swap wasn't hard, but I probably wouldn't do it again. We did this over my wife's summer break(she's a teacher), so in about 2.5 months. But we needed a good DD for her and I'd been talking about a small Jeep-diesel conversion for a while. The truck and the engine kinda fell into our laps for a total investment of $600. We've got around $2500 total in the whole project, which is what we where looking to spend on a used vehicle anyway.

We did get the first tank through it the other day 456 miles @ 27mpg. I don't think that's too bad considering all the mileage was short trip, in-town driving. There are a few people that have done this exact swap and some really good info over on this site: Diesel Bombers

Yeah I'm on the Zone and IFSJA with the same name. I've been trolling the net with this username for a long, long time now, so I show up on a lot of forums. And fortunately there's no **** carpet.
