I'm adding scanning abilities to my toolbox and MyCanic looks interesting. Does anyone use this and what does it actually do:dunno:

Johnny Mac loves it but hasn't went into much detail when recommending it other than its more useful than IDS on a Ford. My main interest is A Ford 6.0 Powerstroke. AE seems to have went downhill here and I was looking at other options.

Hi Roddyo
So mycanic as not a shop type tool. Its a development tool so requires more, i suppose, effort to use. In my line of work i dont scan production vehicles, my work is on development vehicles but it would have been used on the f trucks during development so it is compatible.
So for things like e.g. forced egr cleaning cycle, its not a straight forward user friendly push button. It will however allow you to delve into what is behind the function...

Thanks for the reply JonnyMac. In your development work do you write your on software or do you use MyCanics? What does the MyCanic software allow you to do? In reading the MyCanic manual it looks like a code reader that can record up to six different parameters. I was wondering what doors the software opened up.

When you delve into what is behind the function, how does MyCanic differ from something like a Picoscope? The MyCanic looks interesting. Thanks for sharing.
