So I've had a bit of a hankering for a metal lathe lately but don't want to spend a fortune. That's led to a lot of looking around of CL, facebook etc and today I found this mystery machine out in rural oklahoma. It's much too big for me, which is unfortunate since the asking price is real cheap, but I thought it was interesting that I couldn't find any record of the MFG anywhere on the internet. Even lathes.co.uk doesn't seem to have it. Anyone able to shed some light on this machine and the company who made it?

I've seen those round selectors on a machine before, but they are unusual. I want to say LeBlond or American. Looks pretty neglected to me.

I googled the bold, the quotes keeps things together, got 4 results "Hall, clarke & co" chicago

dropping chicago gets you to 5. Not sure why I am missing APEowner's link

Interesting that they are bouncing between Chicago and Boston locations in his article. Nothing on the address of the re-manufacturing facility shown.

the google books links will generally get you more "vintage current" literature

If you add chicago, this 1901 link shows up, listing them as an agent. Their office was right across the street from the train station, so I doubt any mfg happened there.

My first big large lathe I bought was embossed with American Junior. I was completely caught by surprise to find out it was made in Italy. Go figure

Good luck, I haven’t a clue for yours.
