Heres one for you all, I saw this at an antique mall a while ago and I can't, for the life of me, find any information on it or WHAT its purpose was.

I think its some type of crimper but for crimping what I dont know. The mechanism has a spring in it and a wheel that slowly expands as you turn the handle. There is then a click and the "crimping" part of it releases. Theres no name, only a number.

Would like to see a video, but sure looks like it's for crimping a specific end on a specific wire. Wouldn't that be a great job to have?

Sorry, no video. I'm more curious as to what it was crimping because the hole for the crimping section is very small.

my best guess would be a crimper to crimp the metal end piece onto spark plug wires:headscrat

Looks like it could be a cable ferrule crimper for Bowden cables found on motorcycle controls, vintage cars or planes. Dunno. Has kinda an English look to my eye.

Did you ever figure this out?

I think it is for crimping old switch board phone plugs.

I googled "444A crimper"

The PDF is too big to attach, so I cut pages 99/100 for the instructions on how to use the crimper.

page 99/100 have instructions but no picture:

https://books.google.com/books?id=M...EwAnoECAsQUw#v=onepage&q=444A crimper&f=false

and worthpoint seems to confirm that:
