I'm obsessed with old school obsessive Japanese engineering, (carburetor looks like something that would be put inside a nuclear device ) plus I'll gladly take an "I ****" (IMO) for picking this up at an estate auction (city) for a few bucks.

It says "toro 2100" but the tag says Kioritz s-2p made in Japan

It started right up dribbling premix but removing the fuel cap there seems to be some type of restrictor or part of the cap is stuck in there

Not even sure what the pre mix ratio is supposed to be. Can't really find much about it on the web.

I'd use 50:1. I'd like to see a pic of this "restrictor" in the gas tank.

I want to be sure, as I have an older Japanese echo string trimmer and chainsaw, that uses 32 :1 and 20 : 1 respectively.

That piece that looked like a restrictor was just part of the cap stuck it has a rubber vent valve.

Oh I see now.

It might be in your best interest to email Toro, Echo, Kioritz to see if they can provide you with any info. I'd be willing to bet someone can get you an old owners manual or at least some info on the engine and the proper mix. Maybe call around to some of your local mom n pop lawn mower shops to see if they can provide any info. Someone, somewhere has the proper info to get and keep ya going.

I just remembered, I have an old Echo brush cutter down stairs. It only has a single handle on the left hand side and the grip, throttle, switch are all white and located on the shaft like a normal weedwacker. Unfortunately it's buried under a ton of ****, but here's the motor.

Thanks for the info I'll give them a try.

That's a really old brushcutter. Late 70's, early 80's. At that time they ran 25 to 1 to a minimum of 32 to 1 oil mix. I spent years working on them and as long as it runs, it will do a great job. However, if it begins to suffer carb or ignition issues, it becomes a wall hanger. The old electronic ignition is no longer available from any source that I am aware of since probably 2005. The carb possibly could be rebuilt if you can find the appropriate kit.
However, like I said, it was a good unit in it's day. I can almost guarantee that Toro will not have any parts available and I know that Echo hasn't had the parts I mentioned since 2005.
Good Luck.

It was hidden under a table, so I didn't even notice it was there, till they held it up for auction. I went for it because a newer Stihl brushcutter, went for over $150 at a different auction, so I thought i'd "roll the dice" for a few bucks. Didn't even know the brand at the time.

It looked like it had not run in decades, (rubber fuel cap gasket dissolved into black goo and dribbled into the tank a bit). I did put in some 50:1 and it started in about 8 pulls. I tired to cut a small 1 1/2" sapling, but the cut was burned black, because the blade was so dull.

If and when it craps out, I'll probably just stumble stepping over it for a few years, admiring that old-school Japanese post war over-engineering. :)

Quality old Echo machine there. Hint: McCulloch sold tons of rebranded Echos in the 1980's and there are bunches of them still around. You can pick them up as complete parts machines for cheap at yard sales, or free at the curb on trash day. McCulloch NOS parts are still cheap and plentiful too.

I'm a big Echo fan myself. Got CS-400 and CS-3000 chainsaws and SRM-225 and GT-210 weedeaters, all purchased cheaply in pawn shops and Fleabay. Looking for an Echo blower to join them, I do have a rebranded McCulloch one currently.
