Mystery Mac 3/8 drive socket

I can't find any info at all on this socket. Like it never existed. Got it at a pawn shop years ago. I'm thinking it may be aviation related. Any ideas?

Well, I'm glad you asked because I've been wondering too. Had that same socket in my box for years with no clue.

I always thought some type of drain plug.

We need someone with a mighty old catalog.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Somebody here's got to know what it was used for.

My first thought was a tap holder, but then there is no way to hold it securely. The 3/8 drive part is broached clean through, both sides.

Or something for dash bezels, radios, interior parts, etc. Just a guess.

That was my guess too doan. My buddy built 747s and sold mac tools so I'm going to ask him about it... Maybe something link this style wing nut....

It does resemble an antenna socket, but I can't think of any that had raised plus instead of recessed.
