what this could be? I know Matra made some speciality tools for vw back in the day,but i have no idea what this is. Any idea?

It looks like a spreader to me. But for what, this I don't know. Maybe to set tension on a belt and pulley system where a motor may be set on a slide table.

looks like the bolt is a replacement for a missing piece. maybe some type of indicator tool by the ball in the end.

Reminds me of a pressure oiling tool I've seen. Fill the chamber with oil and then tighten the bolt to force oil through the end with the ball.

First thing I thought of when I saw it too, I have one I made very similar.
