Mystery tool

Going through some of my in-laws tools and came across a few things I have no idea what they are for. They frequented flea markets, so his hobbies aren't necessarily clues to what these are for.

These have sharp edges. For picking up decals or something?

Pliers with an odd 90deg channel. They don't look homemade.

Any ideas in the above?

First two are Brake spring tool and spring clamp tool. Pic three is another spring type hose clamp tool.

The pliers to me look like a set of hog ring pliers. Used to attach hog rings to uphlostery. The pliers clamp the rings together.

Bingo on the hose clamp tool. I knew I had a few if those around and sure enough, it's a perfect fit. Nor sure I'll need that in the near future.

If/when you do need one you'll really appreciate having it. Trying to wrestle those loose on a dishwasher was a hugely aggravating experience with regular kinds of pliers. Even worse putting it back on.

The second tool in the first two pics is a constant tension hose clamp pliers.

Picture 2 are laboratory spatulas. Made out of stainless steel and used for transferring small amounts of solid from bottle to balance, typically.

They also worked good for feeding an O-ring into the drum as you inserted the piston. This would keep it from being pinched or cut as you inserted the piston.

#4 for testing viscosity of oils. Work well on most, but not so much on today's multi-viscosity products.

Well I'm 2nd generation lucky SOB. they went to estate sales and flea markets There were quite a few things that I have never seen before but figured out. Things that had nothing to do with his hobbies.

If/when you do need one you'll really appreciate having it. Trying to wrestle those loose on a dishwasher was a hugely aggravating experience with regular kinds of pliers. Even worse putting it back on.

Hell yes, I'm hanging on to this one. You reminded me of several dishwasher repairs where this would have come in handy.

Thanks! I thought they were coke spoons or something. Lots of lab type equipment in his stuff. Two Kennedy boxes with lots of things labeled fisher scientific. Really fine tweezers, magnetic stirrers, glass tubing and a pile of hosecocks.

Hell, I'm 46, but still learning. Part of the reason I'm on this forum.
