I inherited this from my Dad but really don't know what it's called or how it is used. Any ideas?

I suspect it may be used in rear end work to push or pull bearings or races into place. It has grooves for a U collar and various rings which may fit the parts it is meant to pull / push into place... The longer sleeve looks like a piston pin, probably added by my Dad as a spacer... The part next to the nut is a thrust bearing...

I think your on the right track as a bearing puller/installer. The third piece in from the “wrist pin” is an inner race from a tapered roller bearing.
