For some reason I just can't place what this thing is... I think its something for electrical work for some reason. Anyone know? Its old enough that it doesn't come up in the snap-on online catalog and I can't find it in the print book either.
I was cleaning out my spares/misc box and found it again. If I knew what it was I'd stick it in my regular box! haha

Ahh the elusive dash nut tool....

I'm kinda slow and didn't even think about googling the #.. came up under a couple of old VW guys sites listed as VW Escutchen tool or radio trim tool. Its for a round "solid" type nut that you basically split with the tip I think and it lets the nut fall out. I don't think they've used those in cars in years. Which means I'll toss it back in my drawer of misc stuff/specialty tools because one day.. I'll reach for it :)

Used to remove the flush nuts that retain headlight and wiper switches and I think some radio shaft nuts. Fords for sure, probably the Mopar and GM stuff also.

It isn't for any GM products of the 1960's. That was when I was working on them, and I had never seen that tool before.

Its definately a interior trim tool for those dash nuts.. it seems like it mostly fits old VW's (Van's, Bugs, etc) I can't really tell that it works on anything else. Oh well I'll keep it anyways lol.

If you don't, you'll damn sure have a need for it shortly after parting with it.

Plus you look the the hero tool guy when a buddy asks if you have a whatever that he needs to borrow.
OR
After your buddy spends hours of time and a few quarts of blood you can whip out a tool that would have made it a 5 minute job.
Odd tools are cool!
