Picked these up in a package deal for $1 each, but can't figure out what they are for...I know the 1st is for an Audi, and the 2nd is some kind of puller.

fan hub puller for HVAC blower and condenser fans. The three set screws grab the hub and the center screw forces the shaft through. You cant use a legged puller on a squirrel cage, you need this tool

My SUV has a hook like you are describing but there is just a single thread. What would the coarse thread in the middle of the stem be for?

It looks like a shipping hook to me also. BMW uses something simular.

Yes, just doing a google search on the part number confirms that and it's for an Audi A8.
