Picked this up from eBay and I'm curious to know what exactly it's for. It's marked Williams 1½ 7-BW9. It's a 1 inch drive, the broaching is only about ½ inch deep, but as you can see in picture there is more clearance from that. I'm stumped, and Google search turned up nothing.

online, it just says it's a diesel socket...but to me, it looks like a short torque stick, but who knows really

It is Likly for head bolts or for something where having that clearance allows something to be installed/replaced without completely dismantling something else.
Like tightening the head bolts of something without removing rocker shafts

Nice socket. That is a Budd Wheel socket for hard to get at lug nuts on trucks. It's longer instead of using an extension bar.

The BW stands for Budd Wheel when it comes to Williams sockets.

That makes sense. After Googling Budd Wheel sockets I now see that is indeed what this socket is. Makes sense, I got it with a 1" drive Plomb ratchet, which would have been used for diesel service. Thanks for your insight.
