Looks like some HF tools in there, I guess I expected higher dollar tools being relied upon on a TV show. It's not like Jamie does not understand quality tools because he brags on Knipex pliers.

Also noticed no combo wrenches or sockets, I could not imagine having a tool kit without that. Different industries require different tools I suppose. I had to laugh that the kit was missing a few tools of course Jamie blames it on the crew.

Oh and everything painted yellow to identify His stuff, reminds me of my dad. Kinda funny dad latest color is yellow also, but in the past I remember orange, blue which ever spray paint is on sale.

He probably didn't want to show off his secret box, but you are right, he looked like he really didn't want to be doing this in front of a camera

I've seen him do this before in one of the back-story shows. He's very demanding and a little bit of a control freak.

He requires "the crew" to maintain little cups/containers all over the M5 shop that must contain a Sharpie, pencil, utility knife, roll of tape, etc. In the episode I saw he went on a tirade because the Sharpie (or whatever) was missing when he needed it.

I can completely understand his frustration, though. There's nothing more frustrating than needing an every day tool to measure, or mark something, and it takes you 90 seconds to do this 10 second task. I have a wall mounted marker/pen holder at work, and I get supremely pissed off as well when I dig for a pen, and they're all out laying on shelves because people were too lazy to do what is requested of them.

I have a tiny drawer full of Sharpies, pens, pencils, mechanical pencils, a white paint marker, sharpeners… It IS really frustrating to not be able to do a super simple task without a big search.

I agree with the frustration...but normally it's with myself. I'm the one who lost the tool by putting it down somewhere, absentmindedly and forgetting it I wish I could blame someone else, but I can't.

Sounds like he'd benefit from a hip pouch. I bet theres a grip on set he could get one from.

He might, actually probably does, have a big full set of combos and sockets in the shop somewhere, but these are his "go anywhere, do anything" kits. An average day in the production industry might have one dealing with tiny electronics nuts to regulator valves on welding bottles, its just impractical to haul around sockets and wrenches for all those sizes. I have a couple dedicated wrenches in my kit for the most common sizes, but I have found that those Gearwrench Quadbox wrenches are awesome for people in Production work. Eight ratcheting wrenches in 2 pieces is perfect for the mobile Technician.

Most of us in the industry paint or mark our stuff like Jamie. My color is lime green, so if I ever get to work with Jamie, I'll know whos tools are whos at the end of the day.

I thought those myth busters started in prop making and special effects. I am sure high quality automotive stuff wasn't necessary to them. Needless to say I am sure there are wrenches and sockets somewhere in the warehouse. You don't need top of the line stuff to do great work.

The Sortimo stuff is great - my van is racked out with it. Not the same bit cases as he was, but the racking is the same, and mine is shelved with both flat and basket shelves, with slide out drawer bins that lock into place. Really good system!

He probably he has some HF just like most people that have a travel box have some HF its expendable and it works.. If its lost walk in and buy more cheap **** that works.. if it breaks walk and buy more.. Snappy wont just follow you around like a puppy, HF has stores all over.. Kinda makes sense to me...
