nail guns info wanted

I am wanting to get a nail gun and know nothing about them. I have build a coat closet and will need a nail gun to put the wood that is tongue and groove on the frame that will be the doors. Also would it work on beaded wood panels something like wood panels? thanks

For a DIY'r that doesnt have any nail guns but has a compressor and wants to start, which was me last year, I bought the HD combo pack and have been happy with them.

I nailed up all the floor trim, island beadboard and more stuff with them.

Even if he has a compressor, it may not be portable enough for indoor projects. Combos like the one you listed are also available with small compressors that do a great job for nail guns.

not too bad to lug inside if needed but I have I think a 50' hose and my kitchen is right outside the garage so i just ran the hose inside with the compressor still in the garage.

If he needs a compressor this is a better deal IMO, loose the pin nailer that you will never use and get a compressor for $50 more.

Thanks. I am looking at a older HF mail catalog i have and they have finishing nailers 16 gage, 18 gage and 20 gage. For the door on my coat closet i say it is about a 1 inch thick

A Finish nailer is either 15 g or 16 g. 18 g and 20 g are brad sizes.

Until he realizes how great a pin nailer can be. 18 and 23 are my most used trim guns.

For 1 closet door? If its just to hold wainscoting or paneling to the wall or door frame... I'd probably use my 18 ga brad (used for all indoor trim in my homes). The paneling is what 1/4 -1/2" thick at most.

Nail guns don't require high CFM... so if yo can't move your compressor around, then get a long hose. I've used up to 100' of 3/8" hose when working outside with a framing nailer.

For a DIYer building non-structural framing (partition walls) you are much better off with battery impact and screws.
