Depending on where you live I've read that the building codes of some jurisdictions do not permit clipped head nails. If that's the case in your area then I'd choose the Bostich. If that doesn't apply to you, I'd still go Bostich only because it's a pound lighter. JMO

I agree with Charlie on the Hatichi. I replaced an older Bostich with the round head Hatichi. I like the Hatichi much better. The Hatichi is much easier to toe nail with than the old clip head Bostich. The Hatichi also seems to have more power using the same compressor and same set pressure. I also have several Senco nailers and staplers and have found them to be good tools. Lowes used to sell the Hatichi and may still sell it, I noticed my local Lowes had that particular model on clearance sale several months ago. I was tempted to buy another one, but I really didn't need it. Hard to pass up a tool deal though.

Check with your local air tool stores. I've got one near me that gets remanufactured units from Senco and he usually has better deals than I can find on the internet. He also has good prices on nails and staples.

I don't have any framing guns, but I do have two Bostitch finish guns; 15ga and 18ga. They've stood up to some serious abuse - I like them a lot.

Though, the 18ga gun does like to jam a little more than I'd like.

+1 on round head over clipped head even if your building department allows clipped.

Of the two, I'd pick the Bostitch since it is convertible to a positive placement nailer meaning you can use it for joist hangers and other hardware.

Don't rule out Hitachi.

I am happy with my Porter Cable guns, though they are the first ones I have used so maybe there is better??

I paid $150 for the framer and an 18 guage brad nailer off Craig's List. They were brand new in the box, so figured it wasn't a bad deal.

I have a Dewalt D51845 round head and I just used to reframe the man door on the garage that I replaced yesterday. It will even stop firing when the nails get down to 4 or 5.

So you dont get misfires. It also has a hook on it. I like that when working off the ground. I hang it on my belt, rafter or ladder. Not all that heavy either.

This was bought while I was using my BIL old Senco that seized up and could not be rebuilt. That day cost me 500.00 on Ebay for 2 brand new guns. A new Senco for him and this Dewalt for me.

This is one of the reasons that I dont borrow any tools from any one any more. Its just cheaper insurance to just buy it when I need it.

I just bought a Senco 702 XP Pro new for $120.00 on ebay.

And they are going for $175 or so on Amazon. That is what I intend to buy when funds allow. My first guns (brad nailer, finish nailer, stapler) were Senco and, though I have nothing to compare them to, I love them.

For $120, how can you afford NOT to buy one?!?
