Hey guys

I've been looking for one of these ratchets for a long time now...got my old one at a dollar store and haven't been able to find any since:

It's the type where you push up or down on the switch to make it switch sides...

Any idea/links on where to get a good one? OR anyone know what these type are even called?

Thanks,
Elliott

Composite ratchet , only good for light work , normally found in cheapie socket sets ,
You'd be better off buying a quality one .

HF do one similar, Teng also do one, I have about 4 of those Halfords ones, I use them a lot, never had a problem with them, and they are easier on the hand than an all steel one in winter. Mine gets a lot of use on M6 fasteners, some M8s, although the 3/8 drive is likely to come out for M8 or bigger that are torqued up.

They don't have the selector like he's asking about though.

The halfords ones do , doubt that brand are available across the pond though,
I'm just not a big fan of them , they work ok on small stuff but tend to be bulky for a 1/4 ratchet , I've seen plenty of knackered 3/8 ones at Boot sales .

For me with my big fat hands the cold is not a problem but big fat hands and bulky ratchet causes clearance issues in tight spots

Just google it , loads of hits ,
Even got a hit from here
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25074

Here's one from England

I guess some companies make nicer ones , but the halfords ones are well on the cheapy side , in use the handle flexes and distorts

Hazet used to make one:

BTW, Elliiot, is that your car? I got an FRS at the end of last year. Great little drivers car.

Hey no that's not my car...just a video I was watching...maybe you'd be interested, too:

It's a Task Force ratchet, it came in a 24 piece set....

Yes! He said it came from Lowe's...can't seem to find it on their site, though.

I'm really looking to buy the ratchet only...if someone could help me find a decent one like the one Bigplum linked above (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_162791_langId_-1_categoryId_165469)

I would greatly appreciate it...I'm having a hard time finding them...especially for Canada.

Thanks a lot guys,
Elliott
