Name That Screw

I recently built some steps leading off the deck and a neighbor gave me a few screws like the top one in the attached picture.

I really like the screws (much better than Home Depot's Deckmates) but I needed a few more and he's been away - so I tried to determine the brand by shopping around online. I purchased the middle and bottom screws but neither of them are quite the same.

Does anybody know what brand or type of screw the top one is?

Bonus points if you can name all 3 brands of screws.

If you look closely at the picture, a distinguishing quality of the top screw is the diagonal cutting threads found between the actual screw threads. I should also mention that all three screws have the torx style "star driver" head.

The middle one is GRK. I use a lot of the top ones too but cannot come up with the brand. I am surprised you like the top ones over the GRK though. When it comes to torx GRK is leaps and bounds better than the rest. We only use the top ones for decking and large quantity, low pressure situations because they are cheaper.

Yep - the middle screw is a GRK R4 - and I've not used them yet but as much as everybody talks about them, they seem like a great goto screw. Looking forward to building something substantial with them - especially as they sound better than the top screw.

... but still curious about that top screw with the diagonal "cutting action" threads.

Hi, I can tell you what the screws are called in England, The top screw is known as POZI CSK TWINTHREAD SELF DRILL BZP WOOD SCREW.
I also can get them but shipping overseas could be expensive, hope this has helped.

Humm, I need to check tonight. I know I've gotten a few boxes of the top style, and really liked them. I seem to recall getting them at Ace Hardware, in smaller sized packages, and in stainless. Maybe 50 per pack, in a clear plastic, they came with the torx bit, and were available in trim head too.

Yep, I've got two two boxes of those. I'll take a picture and reply tonight if I can.
And yes, they're torx drive.

If those are Phillips head screws, go to Lowes and get the Star drive heads which are a T-25 torx head.

You will never look back (They cost the same too.), My 15 YO daughter was driving these 3-1/2" lengths in EFFORTLESSLY, with an egg beater 2 speed hand drill. (And the older two were fighting over who got to do the rest... Me? I was "supervising"! )

Top one looks like a Spax.

I originally thought it was a Spax - but there is no identifier on the screw itself and most mainline screws seem to have something stamped on them. I took at look at the Spax website and while they have some cool screws, none of them looked like this - at least not with the cross-threads between the screw threads.

For the interested, the bottom screw is a Split Stop screw. Again, came across it while researching the top screw and bought a box.

Ok, I found three different types of these screws in my drawers. Two were in boxes, and were the same, except for length. One was stainless, but no box to help identify it.
