Bought this at a flea market today for a buck. It's very well made, has a nice heft to it, and it feels good in my hand. I can barely make out a "Pat #" but the numbers are illegible.

Think tools related to bicycle repair on that one. At least a place to start a search.

Seems that is where that style is used most.

Seems like a bicycle tool to me too for some reason.
I little like this Park Tool gadget.

Or this thing.

---edit style seems to be called "Y-tool"

I have riden bikes all around Europe and once I rode one form Detroit to Denver.
I still ride and I have never see a tool like that in a bike shop.

I know you would think it is but I just think it is a multi tool. Go to the US Patent web site and type in screwdrivers and see what comes up.

Some people had the same Idea I had. I though this was going to be a name the screwdriver contest like naming a baby form the heading on the post.

I will send you adoption papers if you need one for proof of ownership.

It looks more like a tool that would come with a power tool or with something you would need to assemble. I have seen funny tools come with many different things that needed to be assembled. Furniture, machines, toys etc. That would be my guess.
