A little more info; I've mostly used them to pull spikes that are in confined spaces, typically in switches. The rails are sometimes too close together to get a standard spike puller in and swing down to pry the spike out without hitting the other rail. You use this tool so your spike puller is sitting above the rails that are in the way.
Also, The official unofficial name is "a**l b**ds". So the Professur wasn't too far off.
Finally, I want to say hello. I've been lurking around here for a few months and think this is a great and horrible place. I now have a channellock, knipex, and socket addiction.
