Good morning my fellow Garage Journalers,

I was working with a friend of mine a few weeks ago and I came across this wrench:

I would consider it a "combination wrench" of sorts as one side is open ended and the other side has a 12 point swivel head socket of the same size.

My buddy had the tool for a long time and didn't know of a specific name for it. I think it could be very useful in certain applications and I was hoping someone on here could identify it for us.

Any help is appreciated!

I've always known them as saltus wrenches.

And Jesus Christ, Sears and Craftsman had nothing to do with the name.

You used to be able to call them a flex socket combo wrench, but now with all of the flex head combos, flex head ratcheting combos and now the pass-thru wrenches , the nameing is unclear.

If I have a set of flex head combos and use the plug adaptor to make it a socket holder, it is now a flex head combo wrench. Thus , Saltus makes the tool's name quite clear.

It's a matter of clear communication, especially when working with others.

I can only imagine the stress it would cause Americans to use the terms spanner or drill machine daily. Ugh.

LOLOLOLOLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Gedore refers to them as Combination Swivel Head Wrenches (534 series). They have a hole near the open end for use with a tommy bar. They make 10-19mm.

This is why I had so much trouble figuring out a proper name for them. Thanks for the help!
