My totally random guess is a glazier's hammer. Why? Because I just happened to see something similar in a Red Devil catalogue today. But it's not really the same. Fine - I don't know!

BC, the all steel tool with the square center looks like it could be a Detroit Diesel injector height gauge. Not sure on the red handle tool or the other pieces. What are the numbers?

I can tell you about Willard, he is LAZY. All he does is sit around in his nice wooden box in the bottom drawer of a tool box somewhere. He watches all his friend tools go to work everyday, all the while he takes a nap. He has been doing this same routine for over 20 years now. What a bum.

Where did you get it? Have any family in the railroad? Part number on the dial appears to be from a Union Pacific Setting Block instrument http://service-solutions.tektronix....TTING-BLOCK-CALIBRATION/product/ir/2100100939.

Then again, the dial could have been put there by a kid making a "cool" device out of misc. parts. Reminds me of something my ten year-old might come up with, lol...

Do any of the "loose" pieces fit into the handled tool? If yes, fit the bits in the handle and take a few picts of it.. Obviously important enough to have a specially made storage box with plenty of "use" indication on it.....
