Look, another socket thread from me!

Im looking to pick up some 1/2 drive nano impacts. Looks like Astro and Husky are black oxide, but the sunex may be phosphate coated?
FWIW I despise black oxide finish, hard to keep clean.
Anyone have the sunex and can confirm?

I know what you mean. My Snap On deep impact socket set leaves my hands black. The coating on my Astro Nano set is fantastic, and I'm sure you'll like it.

If the hex drive function is not a must on your list, check out the Capri Tools sockets. I have them in 3/8" drive and they seem to be very good quality

I ordered a 21mm from them to try out. I ended up ordered a set of Huskys (1 day shipping from home depot!) ill compare the height. I cant really seem to find a need for the hex end as i have flex ratchet wrenches up to 24mm but...that one time..

Huskys are going back. Chalkboardesque oxide coating, poor and inconsistent stamping. The mm is hardly indented.
The capris are the exact same size. Dont need hex drive outside.
Phosphate coating is where its at. Deep impression for size marking which ill fill with fluorescent orange paint.
50$ for the capri set

Oo i see now! How does a black oxide finish differ in terms of durability/feel/dirt ?

Black oxide is not as durable as phosphate to corrosion. Phosphating provides a coarse surface which holds more of the (special) "oil". The oil retention is the key to corrosion resistance over time.
