Napa 3 Ton Floor Jack Questions....

Hi,

I discovered the forum while searching for information on a Napa 3 ton floor jack. I just bought it used and want to see if it will be reliable. The model number is 520-300? (label smeared) and I can find exactly ZERO mention of it anywhere!

There is a very similar 520-3003 available and it is a USA made model according to the local Napa.
Anyway I will be using this jack in a remote field operation and would like to have a rebuild kit and parts manual on hand so would like to see what I can find. So far ; nothing.

I'll contact Napa tomorrow but am confounded after an hour of zero info so am looking here.

Looking forward to contributing to this great forum!

Can you post a picture of the pump's top side, the handle joke is covering the pump in the pictures. The jack looks more like a rebranded Torin than a Shinn Fu product. Many companies sell that particular jack shape under different brands and others buy the pump from Torin and mount it in their bodies.

Check the picture below, if it looks the same, with the thin top edge on the right side where the return spring is, it is a Torin. The only company that sells a repair kit for their rebranded Torin is OTC. The model is the OTC 1504A and it is a 3 ton model. But there is no guaranty that internally it has the same parts or the same size seals, as Torin has made some variations of this pump thru the years, although they all look alike on the outside (for this particular pump type). This pump uses an o-ring and o-ring retainer as a main seal. The o-rings can be sourced on your local hydraulic shop or online except for the o-ring retainer which is not available anywhere except in the OTC kit. If the retainer is in good condition, the only thing replaced is the o-ring.

If it were a Shinn Fu jack, most likely you would still need to source the seals on your local hydraulic shop or on line, as Shinn Fu never seems to have kits for their jacks. Shinn Fu uses u-cups as a main seal, fourth picture.

BY the way, the Napa 520- 3003 is a different jack from the one shown here. Yours is made in China and not the same quality.

I saw your ad selling this jack in the TOYOTA-4RUNNER.ORG site. So are you using it in a remote site or are you selling it? :headscrat Here is your ad:

Ooops,

I'm reposting the photos for reference as I accidentally deleted them.

Thanks for the input Edgar. I did opt to sell the jack as my Boy Scout instinct took over and since I could not identify the jack until you assisted and I did not want to haul it 700 miles in a tightly packed 4Runner.

Edgar, how do you figure this stuff out man?! I rarely see a line of goods that is so rebranded and frankenstieined together. It's like there is 2 or 3 basic designs and dozens of permutations per seller with the only change being seals! At least from my vantage.

Good luck to the next guy with a NAPA jack. There "expert knowledge" ends at last months catalog IME. Obviously they have more pressing needs than discussing jacks with me but too bad their database is not more in depth allowing one to self determine a product and repair.

Thanks,
Zulch
