Does anyone know the kind of discounts that NAPA gives on their tools and parts to their commercial customers?

What kind of sales volume is required for a commercial account?

I think ANY company can have a commercial account but pricing depends how much you buy. Every shop can have different pricing on different products..... Some commercial accounts don't get any special pricing at all..... but they let you believe you're getting a deal.

Ayuh,.... I think you'll find that yer relationship with the owner of yer local Napa means much, Much more to pricin' than anything else,.....

I have a Super Great friendship with my local store owner,...

I've had friends get down right pizzed off at me, because I got waayyy better prices than themselves,...

I've also had other countermen I ran into other than at the store apologize to me, explainin' they gave me the best price they could, even though Bill sent me out the door at a lower price,....

We have a Commercial acct.. Tools are always 20%, everything else varies, and some items show a discount..but the Gross price is so high..that the Net price must be the normal price..? But the worst i have seen is Grainger...if you just walk in there without having a Commercial acct...take plenty of lube...your gonna need it.....lol

Thanks for the responses so far.

My friend and I are considering expanding his export business to include auto parts and tools. He always has some excess capacity and these items are "value dense" and don't require any additional permits.

American made products also carry a premium price so I'll also look into Williams USA and SK tool. Wright doesn't seem to have any visibility in these markets but their wrenches are a good value so I'd consider them as well.

At this point the question is what can our buyers afford and what will bring in the best margins.

Keep the responses coming!

Between product lines, your volume, and the store in question... you can't really answer it. We have accounts priced below "cost" (usually not counting our direct ship discount) on certain lines, all the way up to 10% off 'cash'. There are also 'rebates' for selling below certain margins on some stuff, I.E. sell this for 20% or less, and get a credit for the difference between that and X%... usually has to be a registered account for that.

My store and the next one over are both independently owned, I bought a pack of fuses at the other store once and the owner gave me their "good guy/tech" pricing... seemed a little high so I punch it in at work Monday... it was more than our cash customer price.

So is there a minimum amount you have to buy from NAPA each month?

I might look into a Grainger commercial account for the American made stuff.

I think I get good pricing from our Napa. Know everyone there and we have a reputation of paying our bill on time every time. They have always taken care of me. I am sure some repair shops get a little better pricing because of volume, but they deserve that. We buy everything we can there that makes sense and an almost 30 year history of good pay , friendship, loyalty works to our advantage in better pricing then our volume may deserve. They also give excellent service, so why would I shop elsewhere.

All that said, I really dislike the Chicrap they and everyone else sells.

Here's a good price on an 11pc Wright set for $112
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wtc-750/overview/

yet this comparable 11pc Carlyle set is priced at $116 even though it's made in Taiwan
https://www.napaonline.com/p/CHQCWL1211M

Now with a 20% discount it's priced more competitively but I could go and buy another Taiwan Williams set for $80 here and it will have 14 pieces
https://www.toolsource.com/sets-c-1...html?tsqtid=&zenid=46qnel3vqefb0at30sde4kptk5

I would expect Carlyle to priced in line with the Williams Taiwan sets maybe I should make Williams the budget friendly option and Wright the hi-end option and just look at socket sets and parts from NAPA.
