NAPA Hero Floor Jack?

Hi Guys
My first post here. I am in the market for a good floor jack. I have a 30 year old Sears that really worked nice but is now starting to lose hold. I have another brand jack, not sure which one, that was bought from JC Whitney about 35 years ago and that is a good one but also starting to loose hold, these slowly creep down.

I was at a local garage last week and saw they used a lot of the 3.5 ton NAPA jacks and really liked them. The part # is 791-6420 and lists for $343. I saw a near new one on CL for $175 and was going to buy it but NAPA has a "hero" model on sale now for $199. The last 4 digits are the same so I think it's the same jack with a different paint job and NAPA donates money for jack sold.

So my question, does anyone know about these jacks? If they are the same and a good jack I'll buy one. If not then I'll go with the used one.

You may want to consider rebuilding your old jacks. Some of the older Sears jacks were rebranded professional quality jacks.

It really depends on what type of vehicles you work on. For instance, in my household, there are three lowered cars and an SUV so my jack needed to have a long low profile section and be able to lift high (about an inch higher than the Napa unit you posted) so I got this one at Costco for $100: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200345429_200345429

They weigh 100 pounds but I'm pretty sure that Napa one is a heffer itself.

I used to work at America's Tire and some of our jacks were Napa. Definitely nice, heavy duty units.

I rebuild 63-82 corvette differentials, IRS , and boxes. I have a couple of my own vettes and my son has a street/strip vette so we are always using a jack.

I plan on repairing the old Sears and JC Whitney brand but need another one for the day job so that is why I'm looking. I have a 2.5 or 3 ton HF jack that went South real fast a few years ago, same with their 20 ton press cylinder so I want to get a quality tool to last me the rest of my days working on cars.

This one is a promotional model painted brown but it is the same 3.5 ton rating as the service jacks I see all over. $199 seems to be a great deal and they donate $10 to the veterans so it looks to be a win=win unless someone knows otherwise.

I too was looking at the 3.5 ton Hero jack does anyone have experience with it or actually seen it in the store? I'm a veteran and looking to replace my 2 year old craftsman jack that drops my small car faster than I can get a jack stand under it.

I'm sure its not USA made but anyone know the country of origin?

I was very interested in the NAPA hero jack, as my dad has had a 3 ton Napa jack that has lasted literally my entire life. The big catch was that I had HF credit and I needed a jack that weekend. Impatience got the best of me since no napa stores stocked the hero jack. I think the napa jack is a fair deal for the $$, I'm sure in a few years when I'm shopping again I'll wish I bought the napa unit.
