Napa ratchet kit, need help!

Will start by saying I've searched HIGH AND LOW! I swear. I have a Napa NB-56 ratchet -- 3/8" drive, flex head, 36 tooth, tear drop-shaped. The pawl likes to slip while I'm wrenching. Remedied it by packing it with red grease, which works unless I was working the ratchet fast. I guess this was a mistake because it worked like this for too long. I went to warranty it and was told, no problem! We'll have you one in a few weeks. Cool, I thought; I'd expected a kit. Over a month goes by, nothing but attitude from the ******* behind the counter at the local Napa shop. Went to several different shops last week to find out that they didn't have one, and that they're switching to Asian stuff. I'd prefer the same ratchet, or a kit. At one store I found one NB-56 on the display rack behind the counter and the guy would NOT warranty it for me even though he couldn't even order me a kit.

SO, looking around here on GJ, I figured that I can use a Sears kit in this thing. I've seen several charts posted here (and elsewhere), but none so far list the NB-56. Can anyone please help me? This ratchet is my number 2 at work and it's shape make it absolutely necessary for certain jobs; I can't afford to replace it right now. Thanks in advance.

Napa sells rebuild kits on their website. I'd start there. Also maybe put the ratchet model number into google and see what comes up.

Napa doesn't sell them anymore and I've googled this thing to death.

It is, though mine is a little newer. Would imagine they used the same internal mechanism.

I'll give Sears a shot tomorrow. Thanks a lot man!

I had a older NB-56 for years. It started to slip early this summer, I took it back to my local store(they know me very well and always try to take care of me) well it took a couple of weeks and they ordered two or three kits with no luck. They ended up getting me a new ratchet. Which at the time was great I thought, this new one kinda ***** the big weenie. It is a USA made ratchet it just feels horrible when I use it. I tried new grease it didn't get any better. If anything it sure looks pretty.

For future reference, if you have the newer version of the NB-56 (as opposed the one JRODC posted), you can use Craftsman kit #43434. My ratchet feels like new money!

(thanks JRODC!)

Anyone know if there is an alternate source for this rat head? I emailed Alltrade/powerbuilt and they didn't send me a rebuild kit as requested, but a new rat. It's not a round head, but a pear head (close copy of Proto, fine tooth (at least 60), but a short straight handle, not a long bent handle flex head...) seems to be very well made so I suspect its a better import (Taiwan?) and not chicom

the one I'm looking for is 3/8's drive, fine tooth (40 ?)

Edit: it does look remarkably similar to a Craftsman flex head I have that is 44 tooth... That was has a tri wing on the back, this one is straight

And the missing pics...
