I found this wrench at a local thrift store.

It is made of steel and seems to be made very well.

12 point design.

It reads 5/8 W46 NASA

I know its hard to believe that this could be a "NASA" wrench but it looks very specialized. What are your opinions on what it is?

What would be surprising that NASA would need a wrench like that? I'd guess they have 10 X the fasteners involved with the support and launch equipment compared to the launched vehicles. Not everything NASA does gets sent to space.

Hmm that sounds pretty good. One friend told me it looked like a distributor wrench.

Wouldnt you be interested if you found a wrench marked NASA on it? I never said it was a space wrench.

From time to time I come across maybe one or two wrenches with the Nasa mark; I never gave much thought to the company that made them. After looking at a bazillion different names you start to just look for the names that are of interest to you.:)

I would hope that NASA would use the best possible tools as it'd still be way cheaper than making their own:

I'd ask on a car specific forum, you will get an answer in 2 seconds- it is probably for an old flathead motor or something 1950's.
