I picked up a Modine PDP 175 this summer and now it is cold so I need to get it installed. I have read the instalation manual about a dozen times and am familiar with everything except the venting. I understand all the clearances and will abide by them. The manual states single wall vent pipe can be used with the proper clearances. Does this mean I can use persumably less expensive single wall tube rather than the "B type double wall? I will need a 45 deg and 1 90 degree before I get to the thimble to go through the wall. Same relatively inexpensive single wall stuff correct?

It looks like I can get the 45 and 90 and the 3 foot piece of pipe at Menards. It was 24 or 26 gauge so it is thick enough. Can I also use one of their thimbles?

Now for the vent cap. I am going through the wall (horizontal vent) and it specifies several different types of vent cap. All acceptable are "gary steel 1092, Breidert type L, Thernlund VH1, Starkap, Selkirk, Constant Air-flo 2433 style or equivalent. It is a power vented exhaust so I am thinking these are prety generic types similar to the non moving pinwheel style or even as basic as a dryer vent style but I can't find much information or pictures of them. My shopping options are basically Menards/Home depot so what am I looking for. I would love to get this started this week if possible. Please help.

The menards vents varried between the dryer vent type to a pinwheel style that looks like it owuld let as water in as keep out. Any pictures of end caps would be appreciated, I am a visual learner.

I am broke and trying to figure this out as inexpensively as possible. I know this is not rocket science I just don't want to screw this up.

Turbo,

I am about to kick off the same project... just finishing a 26'x36' area and have located a slighly used Modine PDP125. I believe it will be a very similar install, Horizontal Venting (one less bend inside).

I came across this kit:
http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hvac/heaters/gas-unit/4-in-horizontal-vent-kit-f102860

Not the cheapest, but built to Code and with all the stuff you need to be legit.

Best of luck, and let us know how you progress (so I can copy you!!).
