As one of the co founders of Nature's Broom, I want to thank you for your interest in our absorbent. I also want to address your questions.
Nature's Broom may look similar to other absorbents (peat moss, etc.) but, it is a patented USDA BioPreferred product. Nature's Broom is made from agricultural and forestry products.
Nature's Broom encapsulates a liquid spill on contact. The user does not have to wait for it to work. If there is a six gallon motor oil spill it will require about 100 pounds of clay absorbent (kitty litter). The retail cost for the product would be $ 15.00($ 6.00 per forty pound bag) When you choose Nature's Broom to do the same job, it will only take ONE twenty pound bag. The retail cost would be $ 10.00. Not only do you clean up you a spill faster than clay, but you save $ 5.00 per application by using Nature's Broom.
Nature's Broom encapsulates on contact hydraulic, transmission, anti-freeze and other fluids that you use every day.
Most mechanics want a better absorbent than clay. (kitty litter) For over 25 years, I used clay in maintenance of agricultural and industrial equipment, while desiring a better oil absorbent. That is the primary reason I created and patented Nature's Broom.
In larger shops, absorbent will be "screened" over barrels to remove clumps
to resuse the absorbent and lower cost. Nature's Broom ability to "encapsulate" the oil have proven to save shops over 60% in total costs, when compared to clay.
Our armed forces are using Nature's Broom as an "sustainable" solution to meet their oil absorbent needs. Nature's Broom has proven to work faster, cost less and have sustainable traits. Nature's Broom has several of those abilities, but one of those traits is oil eating microbes. Those microbes will convert used motor oil into carbon dioxide and water in about 10 to 12 weeks. Heat, sunlight and moisture help speed up the bioremediation process and after conversion the remaining product can be used as a mulch or a fuel.
Nature's Broom can be found in Advance Auto. Advance stocks the four pound and twenty pound bag. You will probably have to obtain our part numbers from the product catalog on our web site for the NAPA stores. NAPA can order Nature's Broom from their distribution centers for you. I hope this answers your questions and I appreciate your interest in Nature's Broom.
