Got the rudder and stock laminated.

Today, more rudder work.
Cut the raceways for the control lines.
Mortised for the sheaves.
Bored to anchor the controls lines.
I think the pics should explain the mechanics of the pivot
In the assembled pic, the lower left line is the down haul and the right is the up haul.

Got the rudder head epoxied together, pintles and gudgeons mounted.
Also mounted a u-bolt for the bow eye and made a cleat that mounts to the aft side of the u-bolt.

I like the copper work! I've been wondering what to do with the stem on mine; might just have to steal that idea. I fitted brass half-oval from the bow eye down and back.

Thanks, I kind of like the effect myself.
Pecked out a transom cap today.
It ended up needing 5 annealing's to help wrap it around the transom

Looks fantastic! Are you bedding the copper caps in anything, or are they just screwed down dry?

The traditionalist in me would want to see bronze oval head screws on that copper. I'm trying to go all bronze/brass/copper on my boat, but $$$. Luckily, I have some bronze hardware left over from old long-gone boats I had, and I made my own oarlock sockets out of brass and cherry.

Something about the stainless screws don't sit right with me either, I'm looking at replacing them with bronze.

I got mine from Fair Wind Fasteners. The quality seems quite good.

Thanks MushCreek,
Got started fitting up floorboards today, the cedar is kind of poor, but will have to do.

I'm really enjoying this, since it so closely mirrors my project boat. Mine calls for steam-bent 'ribs' for the floorboards, but I think I'm going to laminate them instead. The floorboards are permanently attached to the ribs, and the whole assembly is removed for refinishing. Mine calls for 3/8" thick planks- How thick are yours?

I picked up a used jetski trailer cheap, and as luck would have it, the PO had put a long tongue on it to haul a canoe. It's perfect for my 18' hull. I need to add some rollers, and come up with some sort of bunks to support the hull.

I'm assuming these are river launch boats. Do you install vertical rollers at the rear to help center the craft when loading?

My floorboards are 3/4" thick at this point.
Not having plans, I spaced the floor timbers at 27" apart.
Looking back, I should have placed them closer together.

According to the plans, the ribs supporting the floorboards should be 'about' a foot apart. That's for 3/8" thick wood, though. It's hard to find clear softwood around here, but I have a stack of very nice 1X8 cypress that I'm going to plane down. I'm going to just oil the floorboards.

Made this jet boat for hunting and fishing many moons ago.
Don't use it much anymore, so it is time to get it to our youngest daughter.
Took a some time getting it ready and delivered it today.

Also got the tongue fastened to the crossmembers on the trailer

Cut, glued and bolted up 7 tapered blocks to follow the keel line with side chocks to cage the keel.
It has good bearing now.
Also mounted a roller at the aft end and pulled one leaf out of the springs to soften the ride.
