NC anvils?

Picked this up on Sunday for $25. I didn't know anything about it at the time other than it's in good shape, sings, and USA made. A quick Google search turned up that its a horseshoe anvil. Anyone used these before? From what I've read on farming forums it's a good little 70lb anvil for horseshoes and general medium duitly purposes but I really didn't find much.

Thanks! I totally agree that at the price it's a steal, I just didn't know how much of one. I've never heard of this brand before but looking on their site and other resellers it looks like they go for about $250

It just seemed too good to be true I guess, I rarely luck out and get the good finds.

Where in southern california did you find an anvil? It seems like an unusual item to be found in this state but a member here found a 25# anvil on sunday in Culver City so i guess they are around.

Bigcaddy: Yeah I was thinking the same thing, they're rare in these parts. Especially in the part of San Diego I live in.

The guy I bought it from said he was trying to start doing some aluminium work and it didn't pan out. He had a little forge setup in his back yard, very unusual for California.

I can guess that he has been trying to sell it for a while, I think I've driven past his street before with a "garage sale ---> " sign on the light post. Maybe that's why it went for so cheap?

Even at $100 I would have snatched this up in a heartbeat.

I picked up 2 yesterday in LA county... I know where there is one for sale in Acton for $385... big ******, but hollow.
