Anyone have long term (5+) years feedback on nds pro series floor drains. i've seen mostly good reviews but a couple old reviews mentioned cracking/brittle grates after a few years of sun/uv.

Menards is selling the plastic grated ones for $40 per 1 meter long sections or $50 for versions with galvanized steel top grates but they have the same load rating. I called nds and even higher load rated grates are available by special order.

Those are very good units. I used to be an engineer for NDS and that was one of my preferred systems. The replacement grates are not that costly, come in different colors and you can also get cast iron grates that will handle fork lift loads.

If you go to a commercial supply place you can buy the channel, the grates, and the ends seperatly. Depending on what you want this may be more cost effective.

When installing it is best to have the channel installed 1/8” below surface with a small round over trowel used to finish the edge. This will help prevent edge damage of the channel and prevent oversheeting of water
