With SK in Illinois and Wright in Ohio, I would think that some great stashes of tools can be found the region.

Anyone know of decent places to buy new or used tools in Ft Wayne area?

Trusty Cook makes hammers right in indy but I'll be damned if I can find a store stocking them anywhere around. I'd also love to find a good used or new high quality tool store in the area without having to go to fastenal.

I usually just browse craigslist and garage sales around here. I've been wanting to get to an auction but haven't been able to.

D&B Sales on speedway drive carries a good selection of tools at good prices. Also down the street from them is a flea market that used to have a couple of vendors that had used tool's.

around here it's mostly rusted chinese junk,
what few "good" tools that are around are rusted, overpriced, and mostly stolen..

once a month or so, i hit a couple local pawn shops, a hole in the wall flea mkt, and a local thrift store.

i search through all the junk tools, & $1 bins at the pawn shop, and grab the name brand (truck brands, proto, armstrong, williams, SK) sockets & wrenches to add to my garage tools, and if i loose something @ work, it doesnt cost me truck prices to replace it.

wife & SIL hit the garage sales every friday, and they give me the lowdown on fri afternoon about any that have tools priced under $5.
last one i went to i picked up 2 pair of USA made vice grips, a new chalkline, full bottle of chalk, and a couple of (cheap) oring picks for $4

I find my fellow Hoosiers love them some junk tools. Cross the border. Ohio sales seem to have Much better. Sk, herbrand, Mac, and several others were made there

Century trading company in Van Wert, Ohio sells SK tools, they sell some junk too, but they are a SK dealer. Van Wert is not too far from Fort Wayne, I can get a number if you would like?

I haven't had much luck out this way and would discourage anyone from coming to this area to look for tools.

And while you're in Van Wert, head down to Kennedy and pick up a box.

My farm is just 6 miles west of Frankfort out on highway 26 and near I 65 I am back there part of the year with my daughter who lives in my farm house. I can not for the life of me find any good used tools sources when I am there. Craigslist does come up with some fantastic buys in the area. Over near Prude U there always seems to be many good buys on tools.

They are everywhere out here in California. Every swap meet and thrift store I go in have thousands of tools. If you need something you never can find it but if you starting buying everything when you fine it cheap sooner or later you will have it all.

Try some thrift malls. They are like antique malls but the people can sell anything. There are a bunch down my way. You are less than a 40 minuet drive I think. Then again out here in CA 40 minuet drive is to get your hair done. LOL I can drive 80 miles going to 3 swap meets in one day.

Actually I don't think there is a Kennedy store in Van Wert anymore, there used to be a store that was open to the public, now, I THINK its the first Saturday of every month where you can go in and purchase Kennedy items, I will have to check.
